Sharing plex server for payment, how illegal? I AM NOT SELLING
So, as one of my other threads stated, i just got a new ax101 from hetzner, and i am thinking of ways to utilize it, and make it pay for itself. So i have a few questions i would love to get feedback on.. When i first ordered this server i had a usecase, but this is now offloaded to different providers. I totally forgot about the ax101 order, as it has been like over a month for delivery to take place.
-First off all, would you pay 10 euro / month for such a access? You can make requests for added content. I have access to ALOT of content, and "unlimited" storage mounted with rclone, who has served me good for a very long time now
-How illegal is this, and what are the chances of getting caught? Is crypto the way to go here? I am also planning to route the actual traffic through vpn(s), so my server ip will be alot harder to expose
-I will not offer direct downloads, only streaming.
Thoughts and ideas here? I mean, if i could sell this 10x, i can finance the server itself, and have a ton of power left for other projects. Though, does not make sense to pay for something i dont REALLY need at the moment, so im looking for options. Really dont wanna cancel it due to the shortage of this config, as i may (or may not) need some dedicated power in the future for other late night stupid projects.
The end is nigh.
too much and I can pirate myself
Pretty illegal (might get your server suspended at hetzner, and one angry customer can report u and u in jail for distributing pirated content (in most countries)
Streaming is as illegal as direct downloads
Crypto and vpn(s) would solve this fairly good, but not 100% ofcourse.
Crypto will only solve the problem of banks taking the money you collected.
And for VPN(s) good luck putting the whole server behind it plus there will always be that one asshole that somehow will track you.
So you are going to charge other people to pay for pirated copies? Peoples, who were not interested in paying for streaming to begin with?
Failed logic bud.
Charging for pirated content as well as distributing it are a big red flag, legally. Especially, if you charge ppl for it.
Expensive and you are charging which is all together illegal.
If you are taking money you are charging as well.
Well, some people dont have access to servers to host their own plex, or the disks, the knowledge or even access to trackers with rare contents. I get your points, but you are missing mine.
It's 2021, what isn't illegal?
But yes it's illegal to share copyrighted material in any jurisdiction that upholds those laws. Nothing in the mentioned scenario presents a valid defense if laws are applicable and applied.
Not to mention that piecing together content from all the different streaming services is ridiculously expensive.
And that streaming services only have a fraction of content that's been created. There's far more content available on private trackers than on all streaming services put together (without even counting porn!)
But yeah, this will not end well. Just give up your AX101.
You're missing out. I have it on good authority that there are a lot of big plex servers sitting behind WHMCS installs. Pay $5/m, get everything, request form for anything missing.
OP wants to charge for stolen content. He insists that he is not selling. Not sure how his logic works.
Maybe deank is stupid just as JarLard is stupid.
I am sharing to some of my own friends to split the cost of the vps currently running this setup, but i am not letting in people i dont know, atleast not now without vpns and stuff in place.
This was kinda what i was thinking. 10 euro / month is the cost of one legit streaming service. I can get most, not all but most content and collect it in one place, and can add content fast on request as long as i can find it on my trackers. That was atleast the idea.
10 euro for a "netflix" with content of your own pickings aint bad in my opinion, but this is LET.
Anyway, it was just a idea. Not really something i have plans to do. And if i was doing it, i would not put it public like this.
I have my boy @ChrisMiller for that. One Chick-Fill-A year is a good deal.
There is a subreddit r/plexshares where people are giving away access.
Only if that Chick-fil-A meal is on a Sunday.
From member with no sales to banned lol
You will not be missed
He will be missed. One less person to troll with.
yep. there's a special place in hell for people who do this crap... them and the spammers.
Are you sure it's only 1?
How to get banned on LET part-1
I still think he could be the same guy as @RaveX and @Lufi same yaddayadda of sharing for money, though he didn't bring up dropbox so far 🤷♂️
Plus the signup dates kinda match up. Jesus.
yeah, that's usually part of the pattern...
