    Lucky you!

  • So, not just my shared hosting that has down on Hostslick.

  • I've got a vos with them and it's been up and down like a yoyo .... according to zabbix for the past few days

  • stick to reputable providers.

There might have been a temporary issue due to which the downtime was there. Even big reputable hosting providers like AWS have had issues. @HostSlick Can you please mention for us what had happened?

  • My VPS has been unreachable for 1 day 10 hours. I also can't (re)start it. I opened a high-priority ticket yesterday, but no response so far.

  • Me too, Ticket opened for more than 15 hours without response

  • Infrastructure proudly provided by HostSlayer. Record downtime is 72+ hours, good luck.

I wanted to give HostSlick a chance, but I'm afraid that my VPS with them has been by far the most unreachable of my VPSes over the past three months. I think that I'm going to migrate to another provider in the near future. (But hopefully, they'll be able to solve the current problem soon.)

  • mine, 2 days down already

  • my shared hosting from last BF is also down.

  • I've just received a reply to my ticket:

    Hello

seems FAN failure inside this server.
Even those are redundant as advertised by HP
,This kind of servers HP ProLiant DL360p gen8 will not boot in Dual CPU Mode once one of the Fans not operating.

A Datacenter remote hands has been requested for it.

Youll be updated once we hear from the Datacenter.

    Many thanks,

I was expecting worse, so I feel relieved.

  • @seenu said: their latest response

Which is the same as the response that I got (see above)

(At least it's not a drive failure)

  • yeah.... gotta wait for them to fix it.

Second year in a row where HostSlick has major hardware issues.
    Link to 2019-2020 meltdowns: https://www.lowendtalk.com/discussion/167057/hostslick-2-major-meltdowns-v-unreliable
I was personally affected last year (year = BF-to-BF), and I'm glad I canceled.

We could define the term pull a HostSlick as:

    1. Sell cheap VPS on unreliable hardware.
    2. When the hardware inevitably fails, don't communicate to the customers until after the customer opens a ticket.
    3. Data loss is likely. Just blame that on the hard drive.

I think @poisson should delist HostSlick if these problems continue.

  • My HostSlick VPS is online:

    14:00:40 up 192 days, 12:26, 1 user, load average: 0.00, 0.02, 0.05

  • My Black Friday deal with hostslick is also down. Ticket submitted :(

  • Not working yet

  • My VPS is finally reachable/up again:

    • My monitor shows 2 days 11 hours and 53 minutes during which my VPS was unreachable

After that, there were additional 2 x 30 minutes during which my VPS was unreachable.

But they say that all is good now.

You were fortunate to be on another node.

I'm just glad that it wasn't a disk failure.

Nevertheless, it was a long downtime for a broken fan, but the timing (Christmas weekend) was admittedly not so great.

Normally a server dont crash / reboots after one broken fan?

    Depends on Server.

The HP ProLiant DL360g gen8 has 8 Redundant fans.
In single cpu mode 2 can fail it will continue.

But in dual cpu mode it requires all.
    It may shutdown otherwise.
Firmware will trigger a shutdown. And in your logs will show up "Power button pressed - shutdown system"

You can ask HP if you like

We are housing hundreds of Dedicated servers we own.
Also we are housing other hosting providers as well.
We have experience with them.
We therefor always have fans in stock.
Im glad we only have some of this model left though. Will be replaced. They are itchy. Others, also other Manfucaturers operate well.
