VPN works with: Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, HBO, BBC iPlayer, Amazon Prime Video, Sky TV, ITV Hub

  • To convince your spouse, who is tracking your devices' IP because she doesn't trust you, that you really are out of country "for a business trip," instead of shacking up with your secret Romanian lover.

  • DPDP Administrator, The Domain Guy

Since we can't travel abroad due to the pandemic, I can at least connect to different locations around the world and pretend as if I'm at the destination country by checking my IP location.

  • bypassing isp throttling and restriction

  • It's just a marketing strategy to get the user's data + money to a third party.
If you don't have a VPN your data only ends up at a few selected places and you don't have to pay for it.

    Thats all.

  • Downloading games from battle.net don't have proper presence in my country so very bad download speed with home isp but data center to data center connection is much better.. same emplies to epic games and anything else other than steam

  • Because my isp knows far more than they should about me... they even tell me what websites I can and can't visit when using there dns (log me in, team viewer and so on are blocked)

    And I'm in the UK

Isnt that a new neutrality violation and what blocking method are they using just dns or dpi?

  • There are countries that block interesting sites and especially trackers plus you have to use VPN in public places with free Wi-Fi.

Probably but there still doing it just last week i was trying to use team viewer

when connected to the router if I don't change my dns to someone else on the device I can't get team viewer the app can't connect and logmein fails etc .... so I'm fairly sure its just DNS stuffing/redirection they are using

Weird generally apps remain unaffected by dns blocking but you can easily change dns on router level ..

In india we have dpi based blocking which is almost impossible to passby on mobile on desktop goodbye dpi works well

To make the connection better, because direct international traffic from the ISP is bad that I need to use SG VPN to be comfortable while working :)

    Also, bypass reddit :)

  • Some porn sites are blocked by my ISP. :D Plus CGNAT is a pain, I'd rather get a static IP, setup a VPN where I can open ports to my local machine than pay my ISP money good enough for a decent dedicated server for just a single static IP with open ports (which I can't set rDNS on), plus no IPv6 support in my country.

Unblock content, or to watch some free TV shows only restricted to USA etc (I don't even care to download them since they are free to stream from USA).

  • When you want to jerk off at office and find that all the porn site are blocked.
When your isp is sending warning when you torrenting.
When you want to access a private/secured service from public internet.
When your government dont trust your basic capability of judgement.

  • You look like a typical signature spammer to me.

  • Fixed wireless internet that can't achieve 100/100 without the use of SOCKS5 & BBR.

  • Weird generally apps remain unaffected by dns blocking but you can easily change dns on router level ..

not with My ISP in the UK they "manage" the router remotely... yes i can login and make changes but the router updates anything they deem i shouldnt be changing (lan ip addressing, DNS etc etc) get overwrote with the update changes

Buy another router by yourself and let the router provided by your ISP work in bridge mode

  • 1.firewalls of China

2.Netflix to see other country content

    3.Office network

    4.Unlock the game area

  • @Anoneko said: Buy another router by yourself and let the router provided by your ISP work in bridge mode

    Considering:

@Anoneko said: but the router updates anything they deem i shouldnt be changing

I doubt the ISP would allow that

Unless your ISP explicitly prohibits the use of the third-party device (unlikely in 2020)

The reason that the router repeatedly overwrites the settings is usually that the DHCP lease expires, which causes the router to request the configuration again, and the configuration issued by his ISP includes DNS

Unlikely that it's just those settings (Local IP, DNS) are being controlled, ISPs usually have deeper control over the box (e.g. TR-069, Telnet, etc.) which means they could theoretically revert your box to its pristine state even after bridging it, effectively locking you out from modifying it.

  • Unblocking various streaming services (like flix), cheaper online shopping (e.g. games/software; hello Brasil/Russia), unblocking websites that enforce geo-restriction or are blocked by your isp, cirvumvent isp throttling, protect public wifi connection, stream sites, linux iso..

I don't doubt that, it's their customized equipment after all

But basically, it's difficult to monitor a specific user alone, their salary is not enough to support them to send reset commands one-on-one unless you are a federal felon or something

  • In the UK many broadband services offer "family friendly" broadband. They choke anything out they don't like. It is stifling, overwheening, "Big Brother" and utterly corrupt.

It is mainly to keep costs of services at a minimum so they can offer the cheapest, and we're talking cheap cheap, not good value cheap, offerings to beat any competition off.

But as they can tell the subscriber every move they have made and a lot more personal information than they have any right of access to, it is deceitful and wrong.

I advocate every UK broadband subscriber should have a VPN. I'll be selling that service directly soon too.

None of those you should watch.

  • Actually a lot...
    -unblocking all sites.
    -good ping in games.
    -cheaper than vpn.
-only use SG location anyway, so I don't mind self host the VPN.
-Just because I am using vpn, doesn't mean I care about privacy, nobody want to see me having coffee in the office. At least it's better than none, just don't want my ISP see me visit prbhb every night.
