Cheap VPS hosting in a s**thole country

Hello
basically I need something that satisfies all the criteria below:
-DMCA ignored (obviously)
-in a country outside EU, in Europe or close, the less civilized the better - no, not Netherlands, not Romania.
-10$ per month max
-specs are irrelevant honestly, it's a small project

Payment in cryptocurrency would be a nice touch.

Why? Hosting a service with user-generated content. Don't wanna get hassled too much if some numbskulls decide to put something fishy there.

Thanks!

  • Canada isn't a shithole country, but this provider is a shithole one that doesn't forward DMCA complaints.

    https://cloudatcost.com/black-friday

    Developer CloudPRO 1 - v4
    1 vCPU Core
    IPv4/6 public IP
    2 GB RAM
    20 GB NVMe
    1 Gbit Network
    (Unmetered Monthly Transfer)

$30 USD one time payment (I've had one-time purchase servers with them for 6 years and haven't gone tits up yet, they are just unreliable) with their 70% off coupon.

    Actually interested. How's their uptime?

They go through periods of good and bad (check Reddit for history of fuckups), tickets can be answered next day or not at all. At the moment, it appears they are blocking all incoming NTP, so my servers time is off by like 7-11 minutes, and haven't responded to say, "yes we are blocking it, or no, we're not". They are just a really poorly run company that drops the ball every chance they can.

Most people loaded up on resources years ago and have multiples setup for backup so when a VM is lost (which happens), they just spin up another. They support scripting, so I actually use it for testing out deployment scripts on their platform instead of of better, paid providers.

So would I use it for primary purpose? No. But for a backup linux ISO box, it's fine.

Developer cloud stuff is on ESXi, so no virtualization limitations, which is nice. The new VC platform is on LXC, and I can't think of more ways they fucked up that platform and rollout. But its cheap AF with the discounts...

This is the Canadian equivalent of a host solutions buy, just without high storage. But they do not forward DMCA and they are bandwidth unmetered. They now have IPv6. They have minimal scripting support. They have terrible support and management, and plenty of overselling.

I'm actually surprised more people at LET do not have lots of resources from buying on discounts 4-6 years ago that are still available if they paid $9/year support maintenance fee for a couple of years (introducing an annual fee to a 'lifetime' product resulted in many tables flipped).

Sounds good enough for me for a one-time fee VPS. Might get one just so I could resell it to my clients who just want a dedicated IP they could use and open ports to.

Some days in the future, they will charge you $100 USD mantaince fee to keep the VPS or they will terminate it.

Should avoid this shit at all cost.

Forgot to ask, static IP? Or it becomes dynamic when fuck ups occur? Did your IP remain the same after all those years?

  • @TimboJones said: They are just a really poorly run company that drops the ball every chance they can.

I just had to say thank you for this. I know you're serious but it's presented so well it's hilarious.

  • I tried to buy one just for the lulz and after putting in credit information I got "There was an error with your request. Please check your log for further details." We're off to a smashing start already ....

Oh, and the payment likely went through. I informed them of that error like 2+ months ago. Aaaanddd, it's still there.

If you work at a company and your colleagues just let these things slide for months on end, its time to find another place to work. I'd lose my shit if I worked with anyone who just didn't lift a goddamn finger, ever.

Originally, because you can custom build the server based on purchased resources, the IPv4 is assigned at the time of build (in the early days, we could assign a second IPv4 for FREE! But they took that away and IP's are just 1:server and not able to be added). So if you deleted it and immediately remade it, its a very small chance you'd get same IP, but more likely a new one.

But in all the templates, the IP is configured as a public static IPv4, no DHCP. But it is not tied to your account and you can get someone else's dirty IP... that being said, I don't recall ever running into an issue with dirty blacklisted IP's, except like 5+ years ago, SourceForge seemed to have a firewall block against a /24 subnet CAC had.

At some point, and I don't know if its still the case or limited to certain versions of their CloudPro plans, they added an option (in the last year) where if you delete a server, that IP is available for like 10-30 minutes and can be reassigned if you recreate a new server in that period. Not sure if that is still there, haven't seen it lately, but that could be because I wasn't deleting/building back to back for the option to be presented.

As I was going to bed this morning, I got the email for free and 90% codes that would start shortly after. I did not think it was worth staying up, as in the past the free and 90% codes would disappear so fast, it was either from bots or straight up lies from CaC.

  • IMO any of the US-based providers match your description perfectly.

Not sure if this is a joke but the US has Safe Harbour laws just for user generated content.

It's a joke about the USA being a shithole country.

  • right! they're having 90% bad reviews. Mostly related to being unreliable!

I figured haha. But OP needs safe harbour laws, not a host that would look the other way.

and this is just sh*t! LOL

cloudatcost sells a VM, but does not allocates any resources!

  • @Bertie said: safe harbour laws

What is this? Can you explain? First time I heard this.

  • If you want a shitty NL provider where the owners are real scumbags, ignoring DMCA and childporn abuse take down requests. Try ecatel/novogara/ipvolume!

If you want a Canadian that meets that same description try frantech/buyvm/buyshared

Might be time to lay off the electric lettuce there bud ....

Frantech/BuyVM are actually great... Not a shill but a former customer.

  • why not NL or RO ?

  • Pretty sure BuyVM's Luxembourg location is DMCA ignored. Great host if you want to check it out.

why not buy the same, without crypto (Paypal, cards) but DDoS protected and 1.10EUR cheaper (3.9EUR/2000KZT monthly) or 12EUR cheaper (39EUR/20kKZT yearly) directly from the DC?

    https://gohost.kz/cloud-vps.php

Used them directly before and 2-3/20-25k KZT is since many years default price in KZ for a 512MB/5-15G/100Mb VPS (eg. Gohost, Megahost, Onehost, IDhost...). Internoc24 IP has the GoHost abuse contact also anyway.

How does GoHost handle personal / private info? Would they transmit that easily to a third party outside of KZ? (Have no idea what privacy laws there are there) Thank you

  • i highly doubt it, aside of Russia maybe.

Keep in mind tho that KZ is far from being democratic or providing "rights" - similar to Russia the gov can, and will, just come to tap/take anything it sees as valuable in any way.
