How good is everyone's Romanian here?

Mine is non existent, so I'm glad that @cociu speaks English at all. In case I occasionally do not understand him, I can simply ask.

Freedom of speech doesn't absolve someone from getting criticism or push-back over what they say. Many times when people cry "Freedom of speech!" it's because they don't like that others are disagreeing with them.

In addition, Freedom of Speech, at least in the US, does not mean absolute freedom of speech. Certain types of speech are NOT protected:

And cociu's comments fall under none of those.

BTW, just to be clear, @PHDan does not work for PornHub. I was only joking.

His name actually refers to the fact that he's Paris Hilton's pool boy.

That's a damn lie! I know for sure because I ... uhm, err ... happen to know Paris' poolboy as well as certain details of her anatomy * blush

Women are certainly underrepresented in tech, comments like this are certainly not inviting them to the industry, and even more so to participate in this forum. I'm pretty sure this is not the kind of ship @jbiloh wants to run.

Let it go @cociu, that's not funny and definitely not cool.

Oh noes, a woman will change her career path because one random guy made a random joke (good, bad, whatever) about sleeping with sisters.

Women are underrepresented in tech, because they have no interest in technology, not because of bad random sexist jokes on forums, simp.

It's not just one "joke". It's having to go through a 4 year degree surrounded by men making these kinds of "jokes" constantly, and then going through the same thing in the workplace. It's having your skills and competence constantly devalued, regardless of your rank at the company, how long you've been there, or your actual skillset. It's having not having equal pay.

It's forums like this. There are many, many women who have left STEM because the abuse day in and day out isn't worth it. If you're not a minority, you don't know what it's like to have to deal with this day in and day out.

You're completely and utterly wrong about women in STEM, by the way. What we are seeing now is an artifact of video gaming as it was introduced in the late 80s and 90s. Before then, female programmers weren't quite as stigmatized. It was a natural extension of women's involvement in the telephone industry. See Grace Hopper: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grace_Hopper or Margaret Hamilton: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Margaret_Hamilton_(software_engineer)

In the 80s the pictures of early Microsoft and Apple look quite progressive because there were many women working there, and they often brought their children along to the offices. This is because there was no stereotype of what tech was. If someone was curious and smart, they'd be hired. It was not common to have academic background in tech at this time that is rampant now and creates barriers to minorities entering tech because, in addition to any financial/zip code based barriers they may be facing, it's fucking hard to finish 4 years of college while you're berated constantly for your gender, race, or sexual identity by your classmates. Women started to go to school for tech around then but the number has been declining ever since.

Back to the video game comment. This is where things started to go wrong. When video gaming systems were created, there was no gendered view of them. The designers had to make a choice to put them in the "girl's" section of the toy store, or the "boy's" section of the toy store. It sucks that toy stores were that gendered to begin with. So the company made a choice, put video games in the boy's section, and that now has led to many changes, stereotypes, and misconceptions that were not there in the early days that now people take for granted. The barrier is that much higher these days.

Please do your homework on stuff like this. This is just as vile as saying that certain races don't have aptitude for certain work or are lazy and poor. As always the real answer as to what causes racial and gender based disparities is obviously not "X are (by virtue of their minority) dumb/lazy/etc. etc. etc."...

Sure. If you take a group of 1000 people, 500 men and 500 women there's no way you find so many interested women in networking, programming. Most women just don't care about tech at all. And the ones that do have no problems in finding a job at IT.

    About being underpaid:

If the IT women are equal to men in general knowledge, can do just as good as men and are paid less for the same job why people don't hire only women? As an employer you would pay less salaries for exactly the same job.

    Or in other analogy:

I'm running a tyre change shop. I employ 10 people.

    • 1 man can change 10 tyres per hour. I have to pay him $20/hr
    • 1 woman can change 10 tyres per hour. I have to pay her $15/hr, because women are underpaid.

So why would I hire 10 men and pay them $200/hr if I can hire 10 women and save $50? There's no economical reason to NOT hire cheaper worker, unless the work they can produce isn't equal.

Unless you force me to pay women the same, even if they produce less, just because they have been born with a certain gender. But how can you call it equality then?

    Prove me wrong.

Do you want to be my acountant? Its a too long story to eplain you what this tables mean , but i can assure you an proove last year we had fiscal inspection in sc parfumuri femei.com and we have been perfect (no adverted, no pennality nothing) so tis mean something i think. Avoiding tax is not my principal business here. If you beleve it or not is your problem.

  • You should probably stop fighting. I mean the drama makes the forum entertaining, but you're fighting just for fighting.

It's a well known and well studied and empirically well proven fact that women are far less interested in tech, physics, etc.

But hey, thanks so much, it's really great that we have yet another "suppressed" group whom we can be concerned about and fight for.

Maybe, just maybe, true respect begins with perceiving and accepting someone the way they are, and maybe, just maybe the problem isn't women being "under represented" in the first place but certain "socially aware" people trying to apply their rather arbitrary rules and measures upon others - incl. women. Maybe, just maybe being equally represented in this or that field is of no importance at all, other than the "importance" construed by woke people desiring to change the world "for the better" without having understood the world or the meaning of "better".

Thanks, but thanks No. I'll always prefer one man or woman actually reflecting before making noise over 10 busy "world changers".

Edit: I also received the email. I do not agree with the statement "The new company name is SC Netsilania Network SRL" because the new company is not quite new, being registered 3 years ago.

  • I read the title wrong. I thought this thread is about how much cociu worth like 1B or 20B or something like that.

  • Never knew there were so many incels on LET, but I guess I should've known.

Anyway, this thread has severely derailed. And all because someone decided to change the legal name of his company from a perfumery to something internet related? At least, let us hope this is the real reason.

I always found it peculiar that Hostsoultions was part of a perfumeri, so for me it makes more sense now. The PayPal change maybe wasn't needed.

  • and then, free advertisement for Cociu (Netsilvania supreme leader), …..again.

I always found it peculiar how people keep defending cociu after all the downtime, datalosses, top up credits games and name change after drama.

If it was any normal non-mascot provider like BuyVM or NexusBytes, they would be already be burned down by the commenters here.

But then again, I love my cheap KVM storage too..
