Hi, I'm looking for a cheap dedicated server to make my own cloud.

I was looking at kimsufi but sadly they are never in stock.
Any suggestion?

for security reasons I prefer not putting my files into a vps.

Since you did not mention any prefered locations, specifications on CPU, RAM, Network/Bandwidth, it is hard to guess what might fit your needs.

You'll likely need to raise your budget if you want the hardware you're getting to do anything equal or higher to what a VPS will do for you.

If you want reliability, reasonability, and quality in the mix, look at AlphaVps / @AlexBarakov. I've seen 25€ dedis from them available a couple of times and a (very experienced) friend/colleague of mine who hosts with them since years has nothing but praise for them.

What I mean is e.g.

• you want (ideally painless) IPMI access to a dedi. Some providers don't offer that, AlphaVPS does
• you'll probably want a couple of IP4 with a dedi. AlphaVPS has 5 in the package afaik
• you'll probably want your dedi to be in a decent DC. Theirs are in a large Tier 3 DC.
• you probably want a real 1 Gbps line with a reasonable traffic package. Theirs come with a couple of TB included.
• you'll probably want good support. And so on

There are other great providers in Europe, @Clouvider and @Hetzner_OL are two examples, but in the low low price segment AlphaVPS has the most attractive mix. With the well known low price providers like e.g. Online you'll usually get f_cked (e.g. 1 IP only, 2nd IP is ca. € 2.50, support is poor and a lottery, etc).

So my advice is to avoid the well known super cheap providers like Online and to pay a couple of $/€ more (really just 5$ or so) and get the right blend of price, features, and support. Maybe AlphaVPS would even be open to go down yet a bit more if you pay yearly and take just e.g. 2 IP4s, I don't know, just try.

Actually you will find many more providers aswell at about 35 Euro
