Use top and look for %st

htop is my preferred monitor. Does it show %st as well or some alternative?

Yes, same as top. However, you need to enable detailed mode. Press F2 then go to "Display options" and select "Detailed CPU time". Press F10 to save. Also, you may want to change the display mode from graph to text.

It took me a while to realize that htop will only display steal time (st) if it is not 0.00 (zero), while top will always display the value (source code lines 93 through 97)

Is that @chx of Drupal infamy?

There is no other. Accordingly, the admin UI is Drupal 8. The front end is not.

To be on topic, if you want to deploy ElasticSearch, I posted to https://stackoverflow.com/a/58668079/308851 . I deployed Ubuntu to get kernel updates with reboots, grabbed Docker:

    apt-get install -y apt-transport-https ca-certificates curl gnupg-agent software-properties-common
    curl -fsSL https://download.docker.com/linux/ubuntu/gpg | sudo apt-key add -
    add-apt-repository "deb [arch=amd64] https://download.docker.com/linux/ubuntu $(lsb_release -cs) stable"
    apt-get install -y docker-ce docker-ce-cli containerd.io

I ran docker swarm init on one host, the other two docker swarm join --token .... and then on three:

    sed -i '$ a vm\.max_map_count=262144' /etc/sysctl.conf
    sysctl -w vm.max_map_count=262144

    And finally:

    docker stack deploy --compose-file=elasticsearch-swarm.yaml elasticsearch

once. And bam, 10 EUR / month HA elasticsearch cluster. It's insane.

That is 3 Instance? I don't see how that adds up to 10 EUR

I'm migrating from Splunk self hosted because my ingest volume is high enough that it's not worth it (think something like 500MB/day = free, 501MB/day = ENTERPRISE LICENCE REQUIRED).

ES has lower requirements (for hardware)?

Yeah, it should be 12 EUR (if the promotion of this thread is at issue)

    ex. VAT probably.

  • Would like to update that I did send a "complaint" to php-friends, it was acknowledged and actual migration only took 7mins.

Very happy now with the Performance as steal is now mostly less than 1.0.

    Thumbs up for good support.
