@SmartHost Very tempted, looks great for a gameserver. Some questions:

    1. Would it be possible to try for a month, and upgrade to a yearly cycle if it looks promising? I see you partially answered this earlier in the thread, but I wanted to confirm that the future annual billing price would be what's listed in this thread, not a different price.
    2. Would it be possible to switch server locations in the future? I'm sure a reimage would be needed, but would I be able to maintain the same billing?
    1. Yes. Annual price would be honored, we don't play game with that. And prices are recurring, not increased over time.
    2. Yes. We can delete location and reset up new at a different location at any time. IP address must change of course. If you need data migrated, it can be done as well, just takes a bit longer.

  • Hello, Can you give one extra ip for free, if paid yearly?

That seems fair, sure. Just open a ticket after signup, and mention this comment.

  • I have a theory. Based on the performance of my VPS, the text in the OP and the relative position of the sun and pluto, I have concluded that @SmartHost is setting up each VPS on its own dedicated server.

  • Can I use storage vps as a regular vps?

hello @moduw123 - it depends on how you use regular vps ...

if I understand correctly some earlier comments from @SmartHost about cpu usage guidelines - there is some leeway but limits will be determined depending on how your activity impacts other users on the node.

so use your good judgement - consider if there are a dozen people doing the same thing as you ... if you are all (for example) pushing the limits of disk i/o constantly then that could be a problem.

otherwise probably same as "regular vps" - some bursts of high cpu would be fine, but not 100% all day every day ...

Anyway, that's my best guess without knowing more about what your use case might be.

tl;dr: disk i/o is likely to be more limited than with regular vps

    For the most part, yes.
We do have some random nodes to offload abusive/heavier users to sometimes.
But for the most part, when we set up new sites, we use the same gear.
Besides, for this deal, we are using an overstock of all the same E5-2670 systems we had available, which is what makes this deal/pricing possible....until they run out.

This offer is not currently available in Europe.
NVME SSD space is available at $4/month per 40GB added.
We don't support adding HDD space to these NVME SSD plans as of yet.

Not quite, but the VPS count per node is rather low.
The resources get allocated on each node quickly with such large plan resources as this deal offers..

I'm absolutely over the moon with the performance, it feels like it's an empty node. Perhaps my neighbors are idling?

I have to say, the fact that you're basically one of the first OG hosts offering VPS and your hardware is owned instills in me a real sense of security I can't feel on rented hardware providers. Read into that what you will, but that's my honest opinion :-)

    Yes, 2008/2012/2016/2019.

Windows ISOs are available, but not our templates.
You are responsible for installation and licensing if using the Windows ISOs via this offer.

If you need a licensed Windows VPS, then we do not offer it on this flash sale, and need our Windows KVM VPS service...

Probably not, as wouldn't want to have to license these nodes for Windows, and the pricing just doesn't quite work out once you have to pay the overlords for that.

since there is no looking glass, can you ping this IP 170.75.200.14 from NJ ?
or anyone who signed up for a server in NJ?
I like to know the latency before purchase.
    Thanks
