    Using this VPS for VPN is allowed.

    But...

    2.3. The following is prohibited:
    2.3.5. Storing public proxy or VPN servers, as well as systems for performance testing of third party systems. Or storing private servers using more than 10 GB of total traffic per day.

    Yeah the TOS is fun, and reminds me why I don't bother with russian hosting in the first place.

    • You cannot use more than 1% of the "total server resources" on average;

    • Even though the bandwidth is "unlimited", you are not allowed to use more than 150 GB/day, else you will get capped to 5 Mbit/sec; if at the same time you use 2x more incoming than outgoing, you will just get terminated.

    • as posted above, not allowed to run a private VPN if you will use more than 10 GB/day through it;

    These are all limitations applying not just to this cheap and limited plan, but to all of their plans, including stuff for $10/month or more.

  • For $0.6 in that location it's a good idler.

    uuh nice, running htop for a bit gets you terminated.
    Next level shit.

    Russians have decent vps's, but they are not so cheap. That one is probably just a FSB honeypot.

    Well, I would not say so.

    Their enough free VPN's, that will surely sell your data, enough opportunities, for the FSB or such to run one of these.

    Tapping a cheap vps, really? Look at the AUP, its gone if you would really use it.

    What a crap comment is this xD

    It's just a promo offer, which will be soon terminated, i only could order with high effort through the direct link, but it worked.

    but network is very capped, not so happy, looks like a 10mbit port and it is Hyper-V based :/

    iperf test to an 1gbit NL looks better
    [SUM] 0.00-10.00 sec 115 MBytes 96.9 Mbits/sec 1 sender
    [SUM] 0.00-10.00 sec 105 MBytes 88.2 Mbits/sec receiver

    Installed CentOS 7 now and updated to 5.2 kernel, now much better diskspeed, you should also delete vpsguard bin, remove postfix (if you not need), remove polkit and firewalld (can you host firewall through panel).

    you got 0.8GB less hdd and 5MB less ram with CentOS, but I like it more

    yum install epel-release vim bash-completion net-tools wget curl lsof && \
    yum remove postfix polkit firewalld && \
    rpm --import https://www.elrepo.org/RPM-GPG-KEY-elrepo.org && \
    rpm -Uvh http://www.elrepo.org/elrepo-release-7.0-3.el7.elrepo.noarch.rpm && \
    yum --enablerepo=elrepo-kernel install kernel-ml && \
    yum clean all

    after that set GRUB_DEFAULT=0 in /etc/default/grub
    vim /etc/default/grub

    grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg && \
    reboot

    result:

  • Update after running this for a few months, having some network maintenance and random reboots, daily high loads up to 4, almost like the server is overloaded.

    Long top command, stuck on update and upgrade, and slow disk io
