So why do ports need to be forwarded if they need this?

Or, why not make it so ports require full auditing of the user?

Maybe you should recreate the Stophaus project. It was very entertaining.

It's a bit shady for sure. @David_Craig got customers from Pakistan/Iran and etc. countries where a lot of script kiddies.

They pay a little but use VPN for everything.

Now spamhaus banned most of IPs and all customers are complaining.

That's the reason why he came here looking for some kind of suggestions/solutions from other providers.

Stop allowing port forwarding then and I'm sure spamhaus will address it.

Right now it's showing that @david_craig isn't trying to address the source of the issue.

Almost VPN provider i've seen offer port forwarding, crypto, etc, are always having this issue.

  • The problem is OP has no single working site that actually sells VPN. All his ranges address some non-working or langing pages.

For example FOS-VPN.org has a static redirect to https://www.torservers.net, this one has nothing to do with Tor or torservers.net at all.

    http://anmaxx.net/ => 403 Forbidden

Yeah, pretty good working business selling a lot of VPNs over there.

Everything that OP has is a lot of blacklisted ranges in Spamhaus with non-VPN-related listings.

  • It's actually easy to remove an EDROP listing by providing your selling site to Spamhaus, such as PIA and other giants do and don't complain on LET about "their VPN project EDROP'd in Spamhaus, blame spamhaus now"

  • hahahaha.. ok professionally I actually do research in cognitive science and the OP is clearly not interested in discussion but engaging in what is called motivated reasoning. He had a preferred conclusion and nothing is going to change his mind; he will say anything to justify himself (while trying to express himself as neutrally and professionally in the hope that some neutral party support him on that account). I suggest everyone just ignore him because such situations merely drains your precious time for no good reason.

  • Let this be a lesson to VPN providers, while you may believe in a free in open Internet, and want to provide it to the world, please be aware that you are a virtual frontend to real ISP. Think of it like Ting to the Sprint and T-Mobile cellular wireless carriers.

You are responsible for your clients usage of your virtual network, even if its a means of terminating them, if filtering is not good enough. Maintaining your reputation as a provider is important for your hardware vendors, network providers, and most certainly your clients.

I mention network providers, because they can turn on you if they use Spamhaus as a data provider, just like how email providers can use Spamhaus for SBL checks. You don't have a choice what product may use for security, but let that be a point that you should be on your best behavior no matter what.

If you are using your vendors IP space, and cause these kinds of problems, do not be surprised if they suspend or terminate you. They will not let one rotten egg spoil the whole bunch.

If you want to add a port forwarding feature, please check data being sent/received on the source port with an IDS of sorts, that way you will know immediately if one your clients is causing harm.

There is a difference between keeping records for legality, and keeping records for a clean operating network. You know will know where to draw the line if the feature is important.

@David_Craig We understand there is a goal you want to achieve with the service you're providing, but this attitude bitter attitude with Spamhaus is certainly not the way to go about it. We cannot see into your discussions with Spamhaus, but you've made it absolutely clear that nothing good has come out of it since the listing is still present.

I doubt apologizing to your vendor and Spamhaus will resolve your issue, because your true colors have been shown.

In the end, please do fraud checks when signing up clients, and keep a passive monitor on your network usage. Do not be afraid to swing the hammer at your clients, since you seem confident that you will get new signups. Remember that good quality service always begins and ends with a smile.

  • Spamhaus are the SPLC of the internet. There have been quite a few threads here on them.

Funny that OP match 100% criteria described in the article.
A vpn vendor without a selling brand = spammer

They do this to protect themselves. Goddamnit that's why hackers and scammers use fuckcoins
