    Hi,

we currently have a very similar offer: https://php-friends.de/vserver-ssd/vserver-sommerspecial-2019-ssd-g2

    Best Regards,
    Tim

    Any aditional ip address?

1,50 EUR per month, 5 EUR setup (not for each IP but for each booking).

Whenever you come out with these excellent offers, do you allow us to combine multiple orders into a bigger VPS? In the sense, if I order two, can I get one with double resources?

Some users asked for storage upgrades. At these specials we can give another 50% discount on the official prices (https://php-friends.de/hilfe) :)

    Hostmantis said the same.

I don't know what this refers to as I don't know Hostmantis, but everyone can check the internet for our "history" to find out that we really have been offering hosting a decade ago. The whole story would be a bit long. In short, we started as a "sponsoring" project (don't ask me why, but that was a hype in Germany many years ago), then offered regular free hosting - the project became one of the biggest free hostings in Germany - and started managed hosting and web design for local companies when we still went to school (mainly to pay the bills for the free hosting servers ). Our first KVM products where launched 2013 in a long (free) beta test to make sure everything really works well when we begin to sell them in the beginning of 2014. As a company, we are profitable from the beginning and never needed an investor or money from our bank, our friends or something else.

That's possible, but blease order one and contact our support for the further steps. If you order two servers, you get two servers :/ :D

I'd have to check if they do transfers, but would anyone want my server from them?

I don't want a transfer fee - I just can't really find a use for it and figured someone else might benefit.

So far I've found their support and uptime to be great - very impressed.

    It's the 20GB RAM/2 cores/125GB SSD one at 10.00 EUR/mo.

Edit: turns out cost is 10 EUR rather than 9.99 EUR

I will gladly take it, especially if the 2 cores are dedicated and allow nested virtualization. Thanks!

Yes, but as our virtual servers are very powerful and cheap, dedicated servers are more or less always senseless compared to our G3 servers. We only sell dedicated servers with 12 month contract period and only to business customers.

This one is the most interesting to habitual dedi users:

    https://php-friends.de/vserver-ssd/vserver-l-ssd-g3

40gb ecc ram and 8 dedicated "cores" (presumably vcores, but still very good at the price), and 140 GB NVMe raid-10, for 27 euro/m including VAT, wow! Can non-EU customers get credited for the tax? I'm sure this has come up before but I've lost track of how it is handled by the different EU providers with these sorts of offers. I know in some cases everyone has to pay it unless they do a lot of annoying paperwork which isn't great.

Cpu calculation: this is a Xeon Gold 6140 which is an 18 core 2.30 ghz cpu with about 24k passmark on single socket (dual socket is only about 33k but those figures seem to reflect heavily shared-memory workloads and I usually run a lot of parallel processes). So that's around 1331 passmark per pcore, or counting a vcore as 60% of a pcore (that reflects my experience) the 8 vcores are at worst around 6390 passmark and optimistically (depending on host load) around 10k, so in the same ballpark as the traditional cheap 4 core i5 or i7 dedi. Not bad at all, and beats the comparable dedicated-cpu Hetzner cloud offers by better than 2x, except for the lack of hourly billing.

Do you have any kind of storage add-ons? I could imagine junking a few of my dedis if I could get one of the above with around 4TB of HDD storage, especially if I could add and release storage dynamically.

I believe extra storage was definitely possible, just forgot at which price. I posted it in here somewhere iirc.

Ympker I took a quick look and didn't see anything about storage (might have missed it), but did find a mention that they remove the VAT charge for customers who don't have to pay it (link). So that's good to know. That brings the price of the L instance to 22.88 EUR/m if my math is right, beating even the NON-dedicated 32gb 8-core Hetzner cloud instance on a monthly basis by a fair bit.

The hourly billing really does matter though, and maybe it's infeasible with these kinds of prices. I like having a fairly powerful monthly server (currently a Hetzner dedi) to call home, and also to be able to spin up more cores when I have a big computation to do. But that is not currently economical since hourly cores cost around 4x what monthly ones do. I hope the coming high-core-count EPYC processors will change the economics of these products.

Yes, the VAT is removed "automatically", just wait with the payment until we send the new invoice.

We can give discounts to additional storage, just contact our support with the needed amount of storage :)
