How will Article 11 and 13 affect hosting companies? If it does.

For hosting companies it is impossible to filter what users are uploading 24/7, will it have any effect?

    It will never be possible.

My understanding is the obligation will be on the web site operator, not the VPS host - so it won't realistically change anything here on LET.

Shooting people is illegal, but there is no absolute protection against it, except for not having mortal enemies in the first place.
If somebody is pissed of enough at me, he is able to shoot me any time, i might try to run or hide behind something, but no defense is practical enough to be viable at all the time.

Same with sending data considered illegal. It is going to be sent anyways, whether someone intercepts and blocks it, or it passes, eventually it shall pass.
It's about time the entertainment industry understand they are just street performers and stop molesting us in the first place.
People are going to pay, a requested price or as much as they think something is worth, if they have money and if they feel like it.

It's nature. How do you stop a river?

Because professional criminals (as known as politicians) pay the police = police is the dog and the politician is the owner.
    This is 100% true.

Btw, We pay taxes which is go into politicians pocket. Then the politician use that money to tell the cop to go after regular people.

people are the dumbest of the dumb.
dead to the politicians is the only answer!

Just more noise from the European Union.

Not surprising. I knew the EU had lost it's mind back when the stupid EU cookie consent law became a thing.

Thankfully most of this doesn't impact web hosting providers.

  • EU is the bitch of UK/London.

    HAR HAR HAR.
The US is pulling the same shit now.

Enough "NOISE" to pull the US into it.

  • Many imageboards are already implementing perceptual hashes and similar stuff to filter their uploads and prevent paid stuff from being uploaded.

It's pretty much like scanning your files with ClamAV, except that you're not looking for viruses.

However, i think querying the archive of forbidden stuff will be the hardest. What format will it be? Will it be downloadable or will need a REST api to check it?

  • (Inofficial) "Upload Filter" aka Article 11+13 will also be rip memes, rip youtubers, rip 9gag, rip..quite a lot. The good thing however is, that more and more people seem to get involved into politics now in the EU and start to get active. That's atleast something positive. However I don't feel well knowing that mostly 60-80 olds are voting on the internet of tomorrow. Switzerland and UK will be like: Lol nope😂

    EU nowadays be like:

  • It depends on what companies are supporting.

  • What should i said from [locally circumstances perspective]

    "Your vacation haven't too far".

    After GDPR now eleven-thirteen

I'm in the second half of that group. But lucky for you, I'm not in Europe. :)

  • GDPR has bring consequence decreasing offer server from EU location, (at least) no one interested, even though earlier DC server from France, as we know OVH looks like a great place for You to attempt bunch your files.

But we believe after one regulation raised then it would be continuation with another like snow ball adapting what they want.

so this is why, we don't like places except, UK, Norway, Austria that was still make me think about it.

But it's just second parameters to use after place which have faster data transfer.

Wot. GDPR is a great piece of legislation actually, and it didn't change that much actually.
What it really did was (a) unify lots of different pieces of legislation together and (b) bring all EU countries to the same standard of privacy laws.
I'll reiterate that most European countries already had pretty strong privacy laws even without GDPR.

If you have customers from Europe then GDPR still applies, it is a headache for hosts/companies but it is actually really good as customers

No, if my porn upload does fail, because of the filters.
Its not good for me, I get angry, which is bad for my health.

    So, No.

But the Interesting question is, what happens to the gmail cloud stuff which people use the "unlimited" storage to store questionable things?

Maybe we see a ban wave coming soonTM.
