    FWIW my complaint has been resolved. I got my $5 back and a free VPS for a year. Apparently there was some issues with migration between their brands.

    At this point I would say they aren't an outright scam, just rough around the edges.

    You're welcome, it's surprisingly not bad. The 4 cores thing is strange, I could almost be sure it was once only 1 core but I have no evidence to back that up.
