  • Will be using it as web development

  • Host a wordpress site.

  • Nice, hope i got this one :)

    I need to host my wp site, tired with all limit in the shared hosting. Also to learn setup small mail server in it :)

    Thanks.

  • I could use a PI Hole set up for my network. Your Seattle location has very low latency to me so it would serve the perfect server!

  • I will be using it for python development and a static PHP based website.

  • I would use it for my web development projects and host my beta projects related to web.
    Also some personal gameservers
    And if space left then a personal VPN.

  • PowerDNS cluster
    and some fancy monitoring

    Which game(s) if I may ask?

    Halo Custom Edition, (if it's only Linux OS then might use wine if it allowed to run the Gameserver).

  • Nice.
    It's been over a decade since I played Halo.
    Good luck.

  • It seems that the network is not very good, because it does not support some countries, indicating that the network is not good, want to avoid disadvantages.

  • "It seems..."
    Facts, proof, screenshots, benchmarks, console logs?

  • I would be using the VPS to host a couple of sites for some local educational groups (linux, python, .net) and a 2 small non profits.

    I'm currently using their server for my blog, and the network (both ping time and bandwidth) is pretty fast for me (considering the server is on the U.S. and I'm in South Korea).

  • Hello,

    I would want to use the VPS as a development server for my educational or research projects. I would also like to develop my java, nodejs, python or C++ programs and test run them on Ubuntu.

    Thanks for your consideration. Much appreciated!

  • Tumblr is removing all my amateur porns in it. I would use this giveaway VPS to archive some tumblr sites. Thanks.

    @qwer121 Please back those statements up with evidence. Should I consider your post spam then?

  • I'd like to give back by setting up a learning platform to teach the next big thing, machine and deep learning. Cost-free, of course.

    Ok. Slightly modified from @AnthonySmith 's offering, but more based upon my wanting to help enabler makers/do'ers. I would like the folks that are awarded VPS to report back to LowEndTalk in a post (you don't need to mention anything about being 'sponsored') with your project.

    It would be cool (but not mandatory) to share code, setup guides, etc here as well. Again -- these don't need to mention anything about IonSwitch, but encourage others to learn.

    My picks (please confirm you are willing to share back with the community, even if extremely broadly) so that others can follow in your footsteps (this can be as simply as "how to setup a node app on Ubuntu 18.04, or deep dive on MQTT, or heres how to start using PyTorch on a VPS").

    @TimboJones - MQTT development.
    @try4lontalk - Development/Ubuntu
    @ehhthing - Node development
    @limited - Bonus round -- if you'll do the same (write up some howto's on how folks can get started with ML) I'll extend a 4th.

    PM me your ok with those terms, and I'll setup the VPS with you.

    It seems like you joined in November and this is your second post. Please consider posting some "the end is nigh" or "dicks" posts to get a feel for our "community".

    You (and other hosts) should not inherit AS's spirit of discrimination against China and Brazil, especially when you take regular orders from these countries.

    Copy/pasta. My priority is enabling makers/do'ers no matter where they are located.

    Lots of other good ideas here -- I hope others provide some VPS to host those projects as well.

    I can post the idling stats about the vps

    @muffin We have provisioned a NAT VPS0 (0GB, 0CORES, 0 PORTS) for you to idle. Let us know if you have any problems.

  • Congrats to the winners, and thanks to @IonSwitch_Stan ... I still have to wait 5 months before having the right to participate, but I am sure that by that time, December will be over ... :)

    Great.

    Edit: Just tried to ssh into the server, and didn’t work. Was the ip 127.0.0.1 , or did you send wrong information. Thanks .

    Edit: The network looks great though, pinging that ip felt as if it is actually localhost

    This is a violation of our VPS0-Idleing-VPS-TOS, which would have locked your instance. Per the TOS for idling instances, you arent allowed to login directly. /s

    Thanks for the consideration, but I'll bow out as I don't want to take away from someone more likely to come through on documenting whatever contributions they made. I'm too selfish/busy ;)

    Make the right decision Stan. What the community needs to know is how to correctly idle a server
