looks like their root servers' price increased.
I've purchased their RS 1000 SSD G8 (with same spec) on 30 jun 2018 for 8.99 eur/month (monthly billing), and now https://netcup.de/bestellen/produkt.php?produkt=2184 10,99€ on monthly billing

you can still order through this old link with the former price: https://www.netcup-offers.eu/bestellen/produkt.php?produkt=2100 ;-)

Their current German page says 8,99€ on monthly billing:

    https://www.netcup.de/bestellen/produkt.php?produkt=2100

They did raise the price a month or so ago on this product (which is the page you cite), but they've since lowered it again. The lesson is to be careful about which page you click on. :-)

    https://www.netcup.de/vserver/ says 6.99€/mo for RS1000 G8.

    Order link is here: https://www.netcup.de/bestellen/produkt.php?produkt=2104

Is that the same server? Specs look similar.

I'm actually uncomfortable with all this randomness with the order pages, the DE sales taxes on non-EU orders, etc. It comes across like the company doesn't have its act together.

6.99 is if you pay yearly.

That's the link that I've just given. It's the same server, but the 6.99€/mo is for a 12-month contract.

Your conclusion is a bit extreme, I think. The currently linked pages are consistent (the pages that one reaches by visiting their site). As far as German VAT for non-EU private persons is concerned, yes, this isn't great, but it's not unheard of. In any case, it's true that netcup is focused on the German and EU markets.

Radi cleared up the mystery: 6.99 is for annual billing, which I hadn't noticed. With the 30 euro credit that puts it at approx. 54/year or 4.5/month. Nice!

  • Nice offer :)
    I attached a ~4€ invoice from: https://www.lowendtalk.com/discussion/129062/found-cheap-vps-in-poland/p1
    And it was accepted :D

So they credited you 30€ even though your invoice from the other provider was well under that? By the way, was that a closing invoice or an ordinary invoice? (I.e., did you actually cancel the other VPS or simply send one of the invoices?)

Just curious how this works in practice ...

Do you think that one actually has to cancel the previous VPS? It seems that it's sufficient to provide a recent invoice.

An invoice should be enough. You can always say you cancel it after having made your backups I guess^^

Yeah, indeed, in their instructions, they don't say that one has to prove cancellation, and it wouldn't make sense to cancel before one could migrate over to netcup anyway.

Well, it looks like you need to a spend 30 Euro at least, so VPS is not working, also RS only with 6 or 12 months contracts.

That you have to spend the 30€ was pretty clear, but if you want a vServer, you could go for one of the G7 products, which are still available on a six-month or yearly basis:

Hmm... in my cart it only shows -30€ towards the setup fee while that VPS already comes with a fee of 0€. - https://prnt.sc/k3a99o

If you go further, it should work correctly. It appears that they've simply classified the 30€ as a (negative) setup fee.

Indeed...is there a database of their old plans somewhere?! :D

@Falzo, perhaps you have a link for storage plans (lower CPU/RAM, larger disk space)?

as far as I remember (and collected ;-)) the storage servers had been discounted only once during the 'egg hunt' on easter holidays 2017, but those links expired directly after the sales finished :/
