KVM with lots of memory at LEB pricing
Hi.
I have been using WootHosting's 6GB/KVM offer for some time, and have been quite happy with them.
However, recently server-crashes have increased, so I'm looking for an alternative place for a backup configuration.
Basically I want as much memory as possible on KVM (for running containerized apps). Disk and network is not super important.
Any suggestions?

Define the budget and location.
netcup...
I don't see any provider has same price-RAM ration only contabo , but for contabo ...
no provider can beat woot pricing, hail woot
Location doesn't matter. Current box is at $90/year (KVM 6GB RAM, 100GB HD, 5TB/mo). As said, RAM is most important, could do with half disk and much less traffic-allowance.
I can offer 4 vCores, 6 GB RAM, 50 GB HDD, 1 TB/mo for 80€ per year
(Not on SAS drives as our normal offers!)
Two of them are available.
ovz or kvm
Wishosting comes closest to your price...
KVM HDD Plus II CA
Starting at $8.99
2 vCPU cores Intel Xeon E5-2670
Unlimited CPU cores 3GHz Turbo
8GB ECC RAM
300GB HDD RAID-1
Always KVM based
what's the localtion. and u have ssd disk
Looking to pay monthly or yearly?
Thanks for the messages. I went with the first from netcup, hoping for the best :-)
Pay attention to the terms around cancelling. You have to positively cancel, not just let the time run out. If you don’t cancel, you’ll get an invoice in the mail. And dent collectors if ignored.
Not to say this is unjust or anything - if you read and follow the terms you’ll be fine.
Someone here (cough me cough) didn’t and ended up staying with Netcup for a month longer than planned ;-)
Location is Frankfurt a.M. Germany.
SSD is possible, but not for a special offer like this.
When it rains, it pours on LET.
Maybe @Hetzner_OL Cloud will suit your needs?
See http://hetzner.cloud for pricing. Have been really satisfied, especially given the real 'thrifty' pricing.
That's 59 euro/y for 4gb or 107 euro for 8gb, not really lower than other offers in this thread, actually a bit higher than some. They do work very well though, and you can adjust their size dynamically.
SSDnodes is running their 7-Year Anniversary Sale.
It's $7.99 /mo for 16GB, even cheaper than their black friday offer.
Only if you pay upfront for 3 years.
That's the usual pricing (paid tri-annually) since some weeks ago I think.
Tried the 2x-large a month ago, I was refunded thankfully.
I have one small and one x-large but idle for half-year.
I was going to host some websites with them,
does the server have problem which caused you to refund?
My w00tHo5t1n9 server performs much better (and it's not a joke). Their support team is very friendly and fast answering the tickets (that doesn't fix anything though). Maybe I was in a bad node, but I won't risk a whole year of payment to test again.
Was that a serious comment? I see 2Gb OpenVZ for $8.99/m - Ramnode has 2Gb KVM for $10/m.
But a thumbs up for SSDnodes' prices.
they have openvz 2GB for $18/year
You can always choose 1yr instead of 3yr payment for a lesser discount but still a huge discount. I just nabbed one of those ssdnodes 4cpu KVM for 1yr prepaid and posted Nginx HTTP/2 HTTPS, sysbench and other disk/bandwidth/UnixBench benchmarks at https://community.centminmod.com/threads/14888/. Very fast with Intel Xeon Gold Skylake cpus - cryptographically core for core it even beats my Core i7 4790K @ 4.0Ghz for openssl benchmarks !
curious what cpu did you end up on with ssdnodes ?
It just said Virtuozzo KVM
If you're still looking, I can offer the following in our Vancouver location for $8/mo:
RAM: 6GB CPU: 2 core SSD: 30GB IPv4: 1 IPv6: /64 Bandwidth: 5TB@1gbps shared Virtualization: VMWare
Ah could of been different hardware. My SSDNodes 4 CPU KVM is apparently on Intel Xeon Gold 6130 Skylake cpus.
Just to be clear: I'm talking about SSDNodes support team, not the other host.
I really like them, not sure why, but if I try for second time and I have the same problems, I doubt they would refund me again and I don't want a huge idle VPS for a year (or 3 years)
What happens after 1 year? You are back to normal undiscounted prices? For the 16Gb box that would from $9.99 to $80/month
Price stays the same.
