my story for BF drama.

I purchased 3 vps.

virmach: 386MB one...almost useless.

crownCloud: took more than a day to be online, later i realized i can't install gitlab with 2gb ram so almost idle

alphavps: its been more than 5days, still its not up, they say their ubuntu 16 template is corrupted and said they will install manually and so far no response at all.

ultravps: paid on 25th, still yet to process and deduct money from paypal.

impactvps: applied double credits almost instantly

so overall impactvps is the best thing happened...

if i find any good kvm one, i thought of moving some vps from impactvps ovz but these guys forcing me to stay with impactvps only :)

VirMach: You paid for a $4/yr VPS and you're not getting your $0.01/day worth out of it? Do tell!

crownCloud: No experience, but it's your damn fault for not checking what you needed for GITLAB? Seriously, if you can afford that, you can afford to use LiquidSky!

AlphaVPS: You, and us other 500 assholes bought one. Be patient.

UltraVPS: Probably not happening if payment hasn't gone through yet.

    ImpactVPS: That's neat. Enjoy!

Buy one of @WSS 4gb boxes and help out a charity to boot. Problem solved.

  • i am not complaining abour VirMach as long as they delivered it well, same with crownCloud... i am saying....how they became idle.

So you bought them full-well knowing they're not usable for anything?

    Welcome to LET!

  • No, i thought i would use them.

VirMach: i though of using it for gitlab-runner but which requires docker-ce to be installed and i am not able to install that because of memory limit.

CrownCloud: gitlab says 2GB is enough to install but its failing because of memory limit.

so i purchased them to use properly but installation failing which is not in my hands.

They are BF Virmach man. No EU but you get a cheap docker gitlab runner that way. See problem solved.

Setup swap space to use temporarily while you install and either remove it or leave it when your done. Remember though, you don't want to be swapping all the time at run time (meaning don't mistake swap for actual memory or you will just be in IO wait hell) but if the major issue here is just getting stuff installed, you should be fine.

    Same things here.

Disclaimer: I made the assumption these are KVM, if they are OpenVZ you may be SOL.

    my 2 cents.

    Cheers!

    That doesn't work with a locked-down OpenVZ.

  • 2GB RAM + 2GB swap supports up to 100 users but it will be very slow.... its a fresh installation and i added 2GB SWAP

    but its not installing.

btw, do you have any min.512MB VirMach left over to gr?

  • I have a few 1GB KVMs. Where is your Gitlab installed? It'd make sense to be as close as possible.

You replied too quickly for me to update my post. Do you ever sleep?

"Cocaine is a hell of a drug!"

Sleep is for humans. You also misused the term 'to', I believe you meant 'too'.

    Drugs are good.

(Believe it or not, this is me on downers. Been a good day until the affiliate shithead crapped all over my thread. I'm pretty mellow and listening to Santana. I'm just trying to ignore physical pain and shitposting all over the place.)

    Which?

  • I bought the 1GB Virmach and I powered it off right away. Still thinking what I am gonna do with it. Since I missed all great deals due to my real life, I grabbed Virmach's a second after I saw the offer without thinking why would I need it.
Maybe I will just install nextcloud which I probably won't use at all.

What're you going to fit in 10GB?

I know I have NYC 1G/10G/1TB KVM no problem. Rebills for ~$20/yr. Yours with a year for $15 PP (and good billing info with Virmach).

  • I bought a dedicated server in Norway, it was deployed in like 10 minutes. Kneel before me, VPS peasants.

WSS said: Gitlab suggests at least 4GB RAM.

OMG it's that Ruby on Rails again. Possible alternative (very fast, small, written in Go, but missing some features last time I used it): http://gogs.io

Otoh I got my first 4GB VPS yesterday so maybe I should install Gitlab just to make some use of it.
