it's just a marketing thing, probably they believe to make it more clear that way, that it's based on multiple disks.

you just get a device of 320GB in size and the underlying architecture is raid10, but you can't change that. so you don't get four single disks nor see four chunks at all.

Gotcha. So it's just their way of advertising your VM will be on 4 disk RAID-10 SAS storage.

How's the performance generally with them? Interested in trying them out.

  • 10:00 am: Plus version of our tariff Root-Server 1000 . The services: 8 GB RAM + 6 dedicated CPU cores + 60 GB SSD in the RAID10 and many more, 8.99 Euro / month. Maximum 100 pieces.

    Want!

If you get on a slow-I/O machine and complain gently- they'll move you to another node transparently. I can't say they're problematic.

They will call you for verification before accepting your order.

    Still a shitty promo.

I think that this is the first time that they're doing BF promotions, plus their autumn promotions are still going, plus they'll also do Advent promotions, so overall very good, I would say.

Although it's a slightly-farther derail- other than issues with my initial setup, I've had no issues with NetCup since that time.

    glad to hear that ;-)

maybe you want to jump on the 6month free vps 500? but be aware that most likely all those vps or rootserver specials come with a 12month contract term anyway.

also the usual coupons for new customer most likely won't work on those promo deals...

nevertheless here are few, just in case :-D :-D :-D

    "Plus Variante unseres Tarifs Root-Server 1000. Die Leistungen: 8 GB RAM + 6 dedizierte CPU-Kerne + 60 GB SSD im RAID10 uvm., 8,99 Euro / Monat. Maximal 100 Stück."

Sounds more premium, 6 Dedicated cores for 2EUR more.

yeah I thought about that too, yet 60GB isn't much, I'd rather go with 320...

and for the cores, the ones on the vserver range aren't much slower and you can use whatever you get out of it - never run into problems, but I don't mine anyway :-P

they don't pass through the host cpu on the vservers though, just QEMU virtual cpu, so probably some features missing too.

very decent I'd say, so far didn't run into any trouble. you want to any benchmarks? actually have a small rootserver with 1 dedicated core (promo last xmas), a 1.5 TB storage VM and a 4core/4GB vserver with them...

yes, that would be my guess too.

Holy shit, those are the deals we're looking for.

Also keep in mind guys, netcup vps are 100mbit/s only, the root servers with dedicated cores got 1gbit/s shared. http://www.speedtest.net/result/6816931648.png

  • Are these netcup deals for their root and VP servers recurring?

no they are not... it's either an old description or just not guarantued to have more than that or whatever marketing call again ;-)

    I'll

I asked @NickMNXio about any BF specials this year, and I was politely told that LET are basically scum (high fraud and abuse of resources), and not their target audience. That really is a shame. I miss my MNX

@WSS — I did say we had a high spam( & fraud) : profit ratio that didnt favor us offering another BF deal like last year.

We have many great LET customers and though not our primary cash source, still a great part of our future (we hope!). Also, the term “scum” never appeared in our chat :) .. I would not rule out future offers, they’d just be structured differently!

Sorry for the poor way of saying what I said via chat.
