This reminds me of a service that I have with MXroute that I've never used... I need to get that setup. All paid up of course.

Same here, I'm only actually using one of three plans I have, maybe when I get some leave....

I've seen this situation more often than not. A customer allows the service to lapse, and gets suspended and they have no intention to renew. However they want access to their data. Sometimes I have the data because the service is just suspended. Sometimes the service has been so long overdue, it's been terminated. Either way, they want their data and in the case of suspension, they seem to think asking for the overdue invoices to be paid akin to holding their data hostage. And when the data is deleted, they of course get upset and complain about our business being 'unprofessional'.

It is somehow as if we are expected to hold customer data indefinitely free of charge. And yet this would probably also be frowned upon by many who may consider that to be a security risk for which the host would be liable for.

Cancellation by non payment ? you can make term going way after the paid term.
