Now you just make me remember who my first web hosting provider is. If you want a shared hosting provider that's been around for a while, I used them about 14 years ago and they're still alive today:

I would take that bet :)

So I'm working on a little side project and I was thinking to use shared hosting as most of it will be a 'set and forget' kind of thing. Although it's a side project I want production quality for this. Some company that know what they're doing and not slap you on some reseller package.

I've been using the obvious choices from LET so far and they're fine but nothing out of the ordinary. Not looking for offers but for some pointers, experiences etc.

Concidering a basic cpanel account, reseller would be even better. 'unlimited' addons (domains, databases etc). Around 40 Gb of space, datatransfer isn't all that important. My budget is not set but I guess €15-€20/month is reasonable. Again, I'm not looking for offers! Just want to know who to look at.

    Try Tranzmedia

    7's been stable now :)

Litespeed merged some patches that addressed their issues with systemd/restarts so I've had no complaints since.

Adding in the wordpress antibrute stuff and it works pretty good.

I've noticed since about the 10th till now reliability and speed has been FANTASTIC! Is this why? I have a 1 min monitor on my site and have had essentially no down time after the 10th vs minor 1-2min occasional blimps before (typical with all my previous shared hosts as well). At this point my buyshared hosted site is more reliable than my previous host that were 10x the price (and without ssl).

I have had good luck with InMotion Hosting for the past year. I switched to InMotion Hosting for personal shared hosting in June 2016.

    AVOID THE FOLLOWING:

    • Avoid any EIG-owned provider. Endurance International Group (EIG) owns many shared-hosting brands that look like independent companies but are not. EIG has no respect for its customers or its employees. Well-known EIG-owned companies include Arvixe and HostGator. You can find a list of EIG brands to avoid by scrolling down to the "Subsidiary brands" section in this article:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Endurance_International_Group

    • Avoid GoDaddy. Based on personal experience and several of my customers' experiences.

    • Avoid WebIntellects. Based on personal experience.
