We decide to go with VPS's first due to some issues on our side. so let's say 1GB Ram KVM will get 100 - 200 GB bandwidth per month on 100Mbps port. ( 1IPv4 & few IPv6's )

What about 1GB extra bandwidth for $0.1 ?

It's just the planned price & actual prices may be different from this.

This is your biggest mistake: putting up your own money to run this. Here's what you need to do:

    1. Walk into your local Bank or find the area Money Man and start talking the language of Cloud Technologies, that glorious language that would make Lewis Carroll envious, the Humpty Dumpty-esque of bumbling out something that sounds profound and possibly makes some kind of sense, and sing it as if you were a pent up ravenous Entrepreneur farting Mozart 3rd symphonies out of your arsehole.

    2. Walk out with Somebody Else's Money

    3. Give yourself a salary from your New Start-Up because You're The Man Now, Dog.

    4. Build that data center because, if you Build It, They Will Come

    5. If they don't actually come, bankrupt that data center and make a list of everything you did wrong (probably lots of things) and everything you did right (possibly nothing) and chalk it up as an Experience Story that you take to your next interview for a Senior position at someplace like Infosys or Qovic Online Solutions, or even make it your campaign story for the Presidency of Sri Lanka on the New Entrepreneur's Party platform.

Banwidth seems a bit small but yeah, asian bandwidth is expensive... :(

but you should note that other big companies give you a gig of ram and a terabyte of traffic on a gigabit port for $5. you should make your service something 'special'. you should think of advantages other than 'fast asia traffic'

  • $7

  • Did you guys deploy the server in Sri Lanka

Well, it's necro but perhaps does warrant an update from OP.

Looking at OP's discussion history though, I'd say no.

sanvit said: What is the estimated bandwidth cost?

at the starting point we have to pay $ 2k/m for 100Mbps leased lines with unlimited bandwidth.

Are you going to be able to recoup that in the LE market?

  • Sounds like dead project, though person's heart was in the right place. Closing. OP, feel free to open a new thread if there's an update.
