Is there a way to install Windows on onApp cloud ? cloud.net ?

As long as it's running kvm it shouldn't be an issue.

  • I donated, everything went fine, until...when I in the windows 2012, I try reboot, then, never comes up again, seems not be able to boot the server ?

I only change the computer name and change administrator password. Any idea ?

  • And, you won't be able to see the windows via the "SERIAL CONSOLE" in the CP of online.net, right ?

  • Will it be possible to make a KVM inside Scaleway and install Windows inside it?

It may be possible, but it's not something I have ever done nor plan to do.

How do you make those images, may I ask?

Fairy dust, elf tears and a bit of magic.

My apologies for not having them ready...things have not gone to plan at all over the last couple of weeks due to a death in my immediate family.

I hope to have them ready this weekend.

My condolences. Take as long as you need. I was more just curious. :)

Does OVH vps have graphics? Can it run autodesk?

  • Vultr would be a big one for me. I use it often to spin up spot instances and create updated images for my work VMs.

Other members have reported the VirtIO templates are already working on Vultr, haven't confirmed it personally though.

No idea, is there a download link to a trial or demo I can install to test?

They had a cloud GPU line of VMs, however they're all sold out and have been for a month, I called OVH and they said they have no clue when they'll get more stock, which sucks as OVH is my go-to provider for stuff like this.

I'd check out http://paperspace.com/ as they offer Windows VMs wth 100% GPU access (no additional vmware svga 3d adapters or anything) running on NVIDIA GRID and they're the only VM GPU provider I've been able to successfully get graphics acceleration on, https://www.paperspace.com/vfx here under programs they specifically state a couple AutoDesk programs will work. They sadly only take debit/credit, no PayPal or any other methods of payment.

The regular OVH VPS Cloud and SSD line that you pay monthly for only have software rendering.

Thanks for the recommendation, tried it, but their support really sucks. They had a issue on their display for billing charges and didn't provide any compensation. To top it off, I waited many weeks for a answer and had to send several emails. It's okay for other I guess, but not for me, terrible experience with paperspace.

  • Can anyone use that to now make scaleway work? The previous tutorial I read said IPv4 wouldn't work but this video makes it seem like he was able to. Hoax?

Lots of working templates out there. Review the thread.

  • none of them are working on ovh ssd2. So far only whatuptime (KVM with VirtIO-SCSI Templates) Microsoft Windows 7 Enterprise Evaluation, 64-bit works

If you can't find any, drop me a PM. I send you my own windows 2016 template for OVH VPS sg, it should work on any OVH SSD VPS.

Over the last few days I have been able to release a broad range of Microsoft Windows templates for KVM virtual machines utilizing VirtIO-SCSI for the disk device (Example: OVH VPS & Public Cloud).

I realize these templates are long over due and I do apologize. "real" life got in the way and it took me much much longer than expected to get a handle on things.

Here is the templates that are available for VirtIO-SCSI:

    • Microsoft Windows 7 Enterprise Evaluation, 64-bit
    • Microsoft Windows 10 Enterprise Evaluation, 64-bit
    • Microsoft Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB (Long Term Service Branch) Evaluation, 64-bit
    • Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard Evaluation, 64-bit
    • Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter Evaluation, 64-bit
    • Microsoft Windows Server 2016 Standard Evaluation, 64-bit
    • Microsoft Windows Server 2016 Datacenter Evaluation, 64-bit

You can download them here - https://www.whatuptime.com/microsoft-windows-template-downloads/

In the coming days/weeks I will also be releasing brand new Microsoft Windows templates for KVM virtual machines utilizing VirtIO for the disk device (Example: DigitalOcean).

In time I also plan to release new dedicated server templates, but honestly I don't know when that may happen as it's honestly pretty low on my priority list presently.

Some time ago I paid to get access to those, and I figured out then there are only evaluation versions... So they are worthless, because they can't be activated, even though I have legal keys for all server versions...

There should be no issues activating the server versions if you have a legit server key any time during the evaluation period, although, your host might have restrictions allowing Windows on their machines.

The evaluations are good for 180 days and can be reset with the command slmgr /rearm.

Failing that you can always convert evaluation versions to their respective full version if you have a valid key...

  • VPN said: can be reset with the command slmgr /rearm

There is a limit to the number of times (two) you can run that command.
