@perennate I'm pretty sure that he regrets it: sqz.io/BFAyH

@marcm Sorry bro, JavaScript disabled by default.

Edit: well, you changed the link, but it still relies on JS:

If redirection fails, please click here to continue.

(yes, I manually clicked it the first three times x.x)
Edit2: that said, I muted my sound after the first time.

This time it's not a screamer, but CNET. Direct: http://news.cnet.com/8301-1009_3-57581639-83/police-arrest-dutchman-for-alleged-spamhaus-web-attacks/

@perennate For the record, when I fell for that for the first time I was at my computer coding and searching for something and the speakers were turned up... needless to say that I jumped off my seat, lol ;-))

Back on topic @perennate - if it took them this long to find this guy, I don't wanna know how long it takes them to do real police work and solve a murder case.

  • @marcm This was probably somewhat tough to sort through. Murders, assuming there's money to fund a Detective team, are usually wrapped up reasonably quickly. There's always exceptions though.

@Magiobiwan You are right. However I was making a linear comparison based on difficulty.

  • I hope he doesn't get too big a sentence. While a DDOS is bullying, what Spamhaus does is vigilante work.

I'm caught in the middle. On one hand I think it's the responsibility of everyone involved in making the internet what it is to put a stop to DDOS, I also consider the internet to be this amazing thing that is owned by no one and is a thread that runs through all of us. An act against the internet as a whole is a crime against all of us. While their target was one, their victims were many.

  • I think it'll be interesting to see this prosecuted in court. Also, @marcm murder is a crime on a WAY different scale from a DDoS attack. Murder has someone dying in it. A DDoS is relatively minor in comparison to someone dying.

@Magiobiwan - Okay, I admit, I had a bit too much fun with it :P

Sven is a cool guy, had a skype call a couple of weeks ago, I don't think he deserves this at all.

  • jarjar Patron Provider, Top Host, Veteran

@Jacob He attacked innocent people on the internet to address a dispute between himself and another party.

  • @jarland The dispute has to do with freedom of the internet, it's not just a private matter.

    @Diesel Spamhaus owns the Internet?

I'll go ahead and have this conversation for both of us.

    You: No but [excuse]
Me: Then its a private matter.
You: But spamhaus is subscribed to by all the major ISPs and therefore have too much power and they abuse it.
Me: Then that's the problem of the ISPs. A blacklist is only as good as its subscribers. Make your case to the people that matter.
You: Well that's how you make the case.
Me: If PlaceholderVPS reports me to FraudRecord and no other host will ever let me order again because they all use that list, will you stand by me in dragging the world's Internet through a massive DDOS on PlaceholderVPS?
    You: That's different.
    Me: No its not.

    Two pages saved.

  • Me: If PlaceholderVPS reports me to FraudRecord and no other host will ever let me order again because they all use that list, will you stand by me in dragging the world's Internet through a massive DDOS on PlaceholderVPS?

    You: That's different.

    My actual response: Yes.

Then you are part of the problem and you don't know how to deal with disputes like an adult. Throwing a temper tantrum and creating victims out of innocent bystanders is not the way you solve your problems when you reach the age to start bathing yourself. Especially when the issues are not life threatening.

    With this classification, terrorists who

temper tantrum and creating victims out of innocent bystanders

are children? Or this is childish behavior?

Why are you using that redirect service all the time. Even worse, it fails to redirect properly lol.

    Because he's promoting his site?

  • If you want a picture of a dangerous criminal, the police will always affect the subject of child pornography and terrorism. But attack was really great:)

SpamHaus has not broken the law, this guy has. I hope he gets a big sentence.

  • @MrAndroid details details

  • @Diesel said: what Spamhaus does is vigilante work.

No, the people that use Spamhaus are the vigilantes.
