  • So no kloxo and zPanel, which one is Quite Stable and least buggy with cool/good performance?

  • zpanel is definitely a bit buggy, kloxo was good. I dnt know what is happening to it now.

  • Webuzo is $25 per year

  • No, check properly, that is just the basic one.

  • I am still using Kloxo 6.1.10 and do manual updating using repoforge.org and webtatic.com to do yum updating, add /usr/local/lxlabs/kloxo/file/phpini/php.ini.template-5.3 (renamed basic php.ini) and now the php is running on 5.3.23 version.

I also tweak /usr/local/lxlabs/kloxo/httpdocs/htmllib/lib/pserver/driver/phpini__synclib.php to be able to use ZendGuardLoader and ioncube_loaders

and tweak /usr/local/lxlabs/kloxo/bin/fix/apache-optimize.php so it will work with su_php, mod_ruid2, mod_itk, without eating too much memory (there was a miss calculation in the formula and obsolete Apache directives IMHO)

I do this to update the phpMyAdmin

    cp /usr/local/lxlabs/kloxo/httpdocs/thirdparty/phpMyAdmin/config.inc.php /usr/local/lxlabs/kloxo/httpdocs/thirdparty/config.inc.php
    cd /usr/local/lxlabs/kloxo/httpdocs/thirdparty/
    wget http://sourceforge.net/projects/phpmyadmin/files/phpMyAdmin/3.5.8/phpMyAdmin-3.5.8-all-languages.tar.gz/download
    tar -xzf phpMyAdmin-3.5.8-all-languages.tar.gz
    mv phpMyAdmin phpMyAdmin.old
    mv phpMyAdmin-3.5.8-all-languages phpMyAdmin
    rm -rf phpMyAdmin/setup
    mv /usr/local/lxlabs/kloxo/httpdocs/thirdparty/config.inc.php /usr/local/lxlabs/kloxo/httpdocs/thirdparty/phpMyAdmin/config.inc.php
    chown -R lxlabs:lxlabs phpMyAdmin
    rm -rf phpMyAdmin.old
    rm -f phpMyAdmin-3.5.8-all-languages.tar.gz

    Kloxo 6.1.10 runs well with CentOS 5.9 32Bit & 64Bit.

I currently have a Kloxo master running BuyVM CentOS 5.9 32Bit with a Kloxo slave running BlueVM CentOS 5.9 64Bit and SemoWeb CentOS 5.9 32Bit.

I am currently testing Kloxo running on CentOS 5.9 64Bit on a xenvps from inception hosting and trying to figure out the easiest way to upgrade horde webmail to the latest version (most vulnerabilities came from older horde installation), and some hacked kloxo was compromised through a vulnerable cacti installation.

Seems like a lot of work compared to... $10-15/mo cPanel VPS license which auto-updates itself

How much is everybody's time worth because it seems like you guys have all the time in the world to waste trying to avoid paying $10-15/mo

Yes, it's a lot of work and it's a hobby, and I tweak the installation scripts and files so I don't have to do manual upgrading.

@doughmanes finally somebody who shares my viewpoint :)

It's not that we don't want to pay $10-$15/m. It's that we're all trying to find a decent compromise for clients who don't. Considering the wealth of options, they will pick one. The frustration stems from not being able to easily pick the best one to recommend. Whether we are a vps provider or we are providing hosting for a client of another nature, we all want the same thing. When a client puts their foot down, you do the best you can. I'd rather not turn away clients because they don't want to pay that extra amount yet they want a panel. It pushes me to research things relevant to my business, and that's good. Offering advice like this absolutely is a good thing for an unmanaged provider to do, in my opinion.

I'm pretty sure most of us here are just fine with minstall/tuxlite/centminmod/whatever.

  • Try webuzo if you only need a one click panel...

Like @24khost said, Webuzo is pretty nice. It's actually a paid-for panel, but cheap, and you can use it without a license, which only limits auto-installation of some software, which is not really necessary anyway. I use it on my main server for hosting, pretty happy about it, but it lacks documentation, however, the panel is very simple anyway.

Edit: Downside of Webuzo is that it only works w/ CentOS.

    Thanked by 1valley_webuzo
  • Webmin + virtualmin should be great..

Interworx is also good, and cheaper than cPanel

You know, this has never caught my eye. Now that you mention it I've seen the name, but that's as far as it went. Do you know where to get a license for less than the $25/m they offer on their site?

  • @darknessends said: I have to give someone a good panel ( other than cpanel ) that is very low cost or is free and opensource.

It should have the basics, email, dns, etc.

Try out Neonpanel from @bluevm Link: https://github.com/BlueVM/Neon/blob/develop/README

  • @MrAndroid I just installed OpenPanel today, it's kinda weird. Can't figure out what the hell are OpenApps. I installed the main cp file, damn thing doesn't have phpmyadmin, The MySQL "OpenApp" requires OpenPanel to be installed, but no MySQL. Well, the OpenPanel installation automatically installs MySQL, Postfix etc. Contradictions everywhere.

OpenApps are independent. You would install an OpenApp if you just wanted that one thing on the server. Otherwise if you want a generic hosting control panel not tailored to that one app, use the OpenPanel instructions. Start with a clean install of Debian 6. Run your updates, then follow the instructions.

  • @jarland I followed instructions, everything is nice, but it doesn't have phpMyAdmin in the base pack I guess?

I just checked out EHCP, is it developed by Turks? The demo screenshots point to that conclusion.

    @thehray > Try out Neonpanel from @bluevm Link: https://github.com/BlueVM/Neon/blob/develop/README

I've been getting an install error trying to install this

neon-installer.sh: line 206: syntax error near unexpected token '('
    neon-installer.sh: line 206: 'cat <(crontab -1) <(echo "* * * * * sh /var/neon/data/scripts/stats.sh") | crontab -'

  • @enkizu Same here. @Bluevm pls help us we are getting the same error.

  • @enkizu and @thehray That might be related to the fact that it's still in development.

  • @Magiobiwan said: @enkizu and @thehray That might be related to the fact that it's still in development.

Obviously, just making it known if it isn't already known

  • @enkizu how to get people for buying my VPS / shared hosting. If they purchase then only I think it is worth to spend and buy a cPanel license

  • @thehray, @enkizu - First off are you running the installation on Debian 6? Secondly if you PM me the login details I'll gladly troubleshoot and get Neon working for you.

  • @BlueVM said: @thehray, @enkizu - First off are you running the installation on Debian 6? Secondly if you PM me the login details I'll gladly troubleshoot and get Neon working for you.

Yeah, I was trying to install on Debian 6, 32, 64 and minimal flavors.

  • I suggest Kloxo-MR. You can install Apache, Lighttpd, Nginx, Nginxproxy or you can change PHP version. If you have problem you can visit the active forum: http://forum.mratwork.com

Is easy to install and manage Kloxo-mr :)

  • @enkizu said: Debian 6, 32, 64 and minimal flavors.

Um... its either 32 or 64. Minimal is the amount of pre-installed packages that come with it (minimum)

  • @HalfEatenPie said: Um... its either 32 or 64. Minimal is the amount of pre-installed packages that come with it (minimum)

Yeah, I meant I tried to install it on 32, 64, 32 minimal and 64 minimal on the box I'm trying to get it on
