Get rid of your prejudices. I said you can do simple and cheap HA without SAN storage. I'm talking about continuous replication of a single 1 ZFS disk on each node for shared media.

But yeah you do end up with not actually needing HA. True HA is not cheap. You have to at minimum double required resources (except storage you can do erasure coding)

You can do this with cheap servers with Proxmox and ZFS (which you don't like).

Nope we do not, setting up HA properly is not exactly cheap or trivial, not what our typical customers seek for.

It was dirt cheap and that was only A+ factor, and flexibility to install Windows Server OS on it.
