I am ok to pay but found that wildcard SSLs are expensive in general, looking for cheaper option. My site is not dealing with e-commerce, but it is not personal use.

Why would you go for Multi-Domain when you need SSL Enabled on Sub-Domains ?? You can do it by just the WildCard O.o

I have a wildcard SHA1 AlphaSSL cert from VMBox issued at October 7th, 2014 but I don't know if they stopped issuing it in this 5 months.

Just created another wildcard certificate today, the CSR submission takes 30 minutes or so.

You get an Alpha wildcard SSL and their cheapest plans are around $3/m I believe.
