Perhaps the x4b one was poor in terms of support, but they did what they could: check the letsencrypt error message which didn’t contain much info, so asked for you to check your DNS and configuration

What else are you expecting from them? Bring them solutions, not problems. Arguing will get you nowhere. I don't see where you showed them your DNS config etc - you simply assumed it is working pro

The DNS is clearly working fine (as I can see the site working. The site is using the self-signed SSL via their portal.)

If you have multiple machines, any of which could serve your web traffic, how do you handle letsencrypt certificate renewal when you don't know which one will end up receiving the verification check.

* re:DNS; everything is proxied via CF, so actually there will be next to zero worries there. I'll just be changing the origin server via api.

Set low TTL a day or so before, switch the DNS, kill the app on server1 as you move the database to server2 right before activating the app.
