Starting with vpn
I want to setup my own secure vpn for my holidays. I have kvm 128mb vps for it. My devices range from an android 4.0 phone to a MacBook pro and windows pc. The first 2 should be able to use it preferable. I know @black had a great openvpn? Config in some other topic?
Should I setup PPTP, L2TP, IPSec, SSL and why/how do they compare? Sorry for the noob questions here.

PPTP for mobile devices
You can use OpenVPN on Android.
PPTP is incredibly damn simple to setup and use.
Otherwise, go with OpenVPN and get the client + Android app.
And you dont need root either!

but you just made my day.
If you are rooted though, the OpenVPN client that requires root is still better.
i am guessing it requires rooting your android yes

FeatVPN Doesnt need root.
You're probably going to get 1/3 (at best) of your best download speed even after tweaking the MTU and mssfix settings.
Personally, I'd go with
ssh -vv -Dto create ssh tunnel and use the socks5 protocol. They should work fine on your mac and your PC. I was able to max out my download and upload speed that way. Just a quick note on ssh tunneling - external applications that are called upon by the browser, such as flash and java will not load through the ssh tunnel.BS.

One question left: my box is pretty lowend (128mb kvm from edis) and uses ~80mb with openvpn-as. If I understand it correctly, openvpn-as is just openvpn with the neat interface and such? Might installing openvpn lower my mem.usage or would it not make any real difference?
speed is pretty good btw
@djvdorp OpenVPN AS uses a lot more memory than regular OpenVPN.

You have a 70Mbps+ home internet connection? I'm currently using openvpn from the debian 6 repos, not sure if that makes a difference. What does your server.conf and client.conf look like? How much memory is it using on average?
Hopefully you are not using the cachefly file...
i have 100Mbps at home. The actual sync is around 107Mbps but yeh. And am using openvpn-as so its just generic config files.
What's the memory usage on your VPN nodes?
