So setup htaccess/htpasswd like normal and for some reason the password's not working. No worries delete both files restart apache and should be good right. Nope everything is still asking for a password even after I rebooted the server and cleared out my browser cache.

Any idea's folks?

    So your password ain't working?

Checked mod_security and firewall logs? May be they have blocked your IP for multiple failure?

  • Naw nothing like that saying verification of user id 'admin" not configured.. wonder if it's not using the password hash and something else

@FRCorey Is your AuthUserFile setting correct and using the full location?

Also, is your htpasswd file in the correct format? With the hashed password?

  • I removed both and it's still asking for passwords that's what I'm trying to figure out. no htaccess or htpassword anywhere in the directory

  • Figured it out. The directive was always there when munin is installed, however once you put in a .htaccess file it activated the directive that exists in /etc/httpd/conf.d/munin.conf commenting out the auth lines there fixed the issue. Now to try again :)

sometimes it's a caching issue but in the ISP side, so if I get the same (I update but it's not showing in website) I'd try opening the website through VPN/proxy to check if updates takes effect.. That tutorial was helpful to me at once to set htaccess authentication: http://www.elated.com/articles/password-protecting-your-pages-with-htaccess/
