    More evidence as to why IRC is trash. It's like MySpace. There was one brief moment where it was cool, there has almost always been decent alternatives, and some people still insist that they're useful. It is the most complicated chat room to join, which I suppose makes it some kind of nerdy rite of passage but it's not like it's complicated, just the most complicated. I'll always see it as the rotary phone of the internet.

    AOL chat rooms were more useful in their day than IRC still is today, in my opinion.

    Except IRC is still widely used. If you know of any other real time group chat platforms that are used on the same scale as IRC, let me know.
