Looking for cost-effective DDoS protection

I'm looking for the most cost-effective DDoS protection solution. I need 2, maybe 3 TB of clean traffic per month(at most). I've looked into CloudFlare, but they charge $200 per month for DDoS protection, an amount I'm not keen on paying.
I'm going to be hosting a web application, not an IRC bouncer/game server/any other DDoS magnet.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I suggest you search the forum for keywords such as 'ddos' and read what you find.
Then regular hosting should be fine.

Is that sarcasm?
Pretty sure it's cloudflare parody from some teenage ddoser. Yours?
Nope, http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=1394319
There is also, http://sucuri.net/ (They're pretty reputable)
have you tried nexusguard?
They both use OVH so they're both not that good.
OVH, Hyperfilter & Prolexic.

Generally speaking you can get cheap or effective. OVH is cheap, but they do not cover all attacks / mitigate perfectly. To get good quality mitigation, it does cost some money. Cloudflares pricing is a bit on the expensive side, someone has to support all the free users.

I think nothing about cost effective, cheap means cheap
What would happen if I get a 30 Gbps DDoS on your US 20 Gbps plan?
On your website, you do not seem to offer plans higher than 20 Gbps in the US.
Hello,
We provide true DDoS Mitigation, check our plans at www.servermania.com
PM me if you need any clarification :-).
Sorry about that. We do offer higher plans, but they aren't listed on our main website.
You can view higher plans at the link below.

Are tcp DDOS against 80/443 rare?
We offer DDoS protected services from $4/year.
So, what is ovh ddos 'pro' good for?
Udp gameservers only?
;')
@pepijnd why do I feel any site that isn't a customer would be vulnerable?
I ran their tool on a couple random domains(including non-existing ones), and it doesn't seem to return a positive result all of the time.
Run it on dollarvz.com
