For you seeding guys, I know that you mostly seed linux isos, but in case a copyrighted torrent made it to the watch folder by mistake and without you noticing fast enough...
Did you ever receive an abuse report from online.net? If so, did they let you time to handle that?

This post in this very thread has a reply from the CEO of online.net where he outlines why they run this offer - its just for advertising. Each server costs more to run each month than it makes "and cost us 3 or 4€ per month and per customer".
Its possibly one the cheapest forms of advertising they could have done, and its really worked and has gotten their name known outside of France.
Great dude. I never knew. I asked about the content, copyrighted material can it downloaded on the dedi. I'm planning to setup cs game server too
Did you check the ToS, what does it say?
I have one last server up now. and may have one more in the next week or so.

@Autosnipe is that a resell of the online.net servers?
Unable to get anything related to Torrent in their tos or aup.so asking here I'd anyone tried it
@krs360 - yes.
@Autosnipe what is it you're doing for the panel for people to reinstall, etc?
@krs360 - at current its by ticket but im working to make use of their api and work out a way to do automated re-install by my billing panel
That's... interesting. He has a habit of doing this, don't you @kcaj?
I wonder if you provided online.net with the same excuses you gave me.
2x Kidechire up for sell @ $12/3 months each (at least three month to avoid issues)
Thanks for the link, didn't read that before; pretty interesting to have numbers...
I have a Kidechire from @Sady. Working great, and he is fast to get thing done. rDNS etc.
Are you using the 'outsourcing' option? If so, can you handle reinstalls, reboot, etc yourself? (Don't know how this works - if other members did experiment with it, please chime in!)
Absolutely YES.
Thanks. That's a pretty nice feature!
I don't think these images have been posted here before.
What? This switch doesn't even have a 10G uplink port.
Looks like 2 x 1Gb/s uplinks from those switches which look to be serving around 24 servers each.
I might be interested to snag one (maybe up to three from different resellers) if the price has very minimal markup and you accept paypal. Though it would be mostly idle like the vps I get once in a while. I only sometimes use my vps when I have to show a client some development progress. @AutoSnipe @Sady
Idle dedi is a waste, for VPSes OK, some of the resources might get redistributed, but on dedis, idleness is a crime against the environment.
A whole 3 watt wasted, try also to breathe less often, you emit CO2 which is known to cause global warming.
It's not about 3 Watts, it's always about attitude
I am not talking about that:
;
1. Building costs: It takes a lot of mining and energy to build them, sure, less than others, but they still contain dangerous heavy metals, rare to mine and who knows how many people were poisoned, their land stolen, etc for mining operations;
2. Costs to operate besides power: spare parts keeping at hand and producing, people allocated to do the maintenance, the share of the switches and routers they occupy, space taken, even in this case they are lower than a full 1U some are on par such as port in the switch;
3. People to care for them which could have done some other things, people have an environmental footprint, as you said, they make CO2
4. The biggest cost of all is the cost of opportunity, this could have empowered a poor indian/chinese to make a few bucks or learn. They should have put limits in place one or 2 per account.

How to setup the ipv6 on centos 7..help please
Glad to hear that. I also stupidly chose to install Windows on my server to play around with. I did it on my phone though, and I swear that 29.99e disclaimer wasn't there. Anyway, I got billed 29.99 for 3 days of usage (11/28-11/30) but didn't actually reinstall with linux until late December 1st. Luckily they responded to my ticket and agreed to refund me. I had a terrible feeling they were going to charge me another 29.99e for that 1 day in december on the next invoice. That would be a total of 60e for 4 days of usage! And I spent that time trying to figure out how to change the UI language from French to English (which I never did)
@joereid yeah it was the same with my. I wanted to try it out and noticed that it's french, but in the end I was able to change the language. How long did the refund take? Did the support refund you fast?
I'm still waiting for the actual credit to go back on my card, but it took support a couple days to give in. I didn't have to argue or anything, I just explained the situation in the original ticket and had to wait.
