[resolved] MySQL Socket
AH-Dominic
Member
[root@website mysqld]# mysql
ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)
The socket file doesn't exist, and when trying to start MySQL, I receive "MySQL Daemon cannot start".
Any idea why? I've tried removing/reinstalling MySQL but still getting that.

Do you have MySQL SERVER installed?
Yes. mysql-server is installed
Try to start mysqld manually (just type mysqld), it should either start or give you a reason why it won't start. Or look at your logs
try
if not, change mysql for mysql or mysql-server
[root@website mysqld]# mysqld
-bash: mysqld: command not found
[root@website mysqld]# mysql
ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)
[root@website mysqld]# service mysqld start
MySQL Daemon failed to start.
Starting mysqld: [FAILED]
look in it's log, it usually says what was wrong.
M
check the mysql logs, in /var/log
Thanks, can be closed now..

Well, there are guys eating the meal without paying afterwards. And there are guys asking for help and others free time and not saying thanks and telling what helped to solve the situation.
Hahaha! Wonderful...
It's pretty rude to simply say 'it's fixed', and not elaborate on what the issue was.
Alright, alright sorry. Was an incompatibility issue, on my part.
as?
