Downtime with LET/LEB

Hey everyone,

I noticed LET/LEB has been down a lot lately. Is it hardware or network? Hopefully someone can chime in here and let everyone know. I know its been down almost all day here and im not even sure if this post will post because it is still being wacky on me end.

    probably DDOS. plus CC connectivity issues these last 24 hours

    this

  • hostnoob said: connectivity issues

    Only 9%™ (of cabinets).

    :)

  • I wouldn't think that would effect this as LET/LEB is clustered for exactly this reason. Maybe I'm wrong on that.

  • Downtime is a feature that's bundled with LET general services: forums, offers, discussion. Welcome to LET!

    obviously isn't then is it :) or if it is they're all on the same node...

  • I guess we will just have to wait and see what @jbiloh says. I'm curious to what's going on and if it is ddos how big it was.

    Pretty sure it is clustered because someone was bored.

    Helooooo, anyone home? @mpkossen @jbiloh etc
    and without "www" it doesn't load.
    and the link from http://lowendbox.com/ is of course without www.

    # time curl -v lowendtalk.com
    * About to connect() to lowendtalk.com port 80 (#0)
    *   Trying 198.23.188.36...
    * Connection timed out
    * couldn't connect to host
    * Closing connection #0
    curl: (7) couldn't connect to host

    real    2m7.308s
    user    0m0.008s

  • Today it was practically impossible to connect. In the best case, the initial connection worked and subsequent ones failed. Mostly however every connection timed out.

    This does seem to have actually been the problem. I was trying to access the naked domain and ran into the problems mentioned above. Using the www hosts seems to work fine. As if I got blocked when I tried to access the machine directly without the Cloudflare layer.

    The most recent outage affected everything though.

    @mkpossen @Spirit @jbiloh Any comment on why it lasted so long and if it is fixed for good now?

  • LET should try OVH + Cloudflare :)

    Cloudflare sucks, they should use sucuri.net

  • OVH + LiteSpeed (Open) for layer 7 ddos it easy to config than Nginx

    A few gbps udp takes sucuri down.

  • Lowendtalk loads fine for me..

    @mpkossen Can we move this thread off topic so it cannot be seen by the attacker?

    I beg to differ. It takes me less than 20 minutes to setup nginx. Setting up OpenLiteSpeed takes at least a couple hours (but maybe that's cause I haven't done it enough).

  • A lot of downtime these days....

  • longest let downtime i've ever seen :v

  • Same here hopefully whatever the issue needs it will get corrected.

  • Hiawatha much better than nginx to handle DDOS. Sadly, no CP including hiawatha/hiawatha-proxy except Kloxo-MR 7.

    Don't they both use php5-fpm/cgi anyway so there will be massive CPU usage? I think KloxoMR beta version has varnish in which could use useful!
