How to load balance DNS forwarder?

Hello all,
I am using dnsmasq for content filtering. I use shallalist.de for my filters. Its working great for me. I also have it configured as a forwarder. I am looking for a way to load balance this forwarder. I have three vps in the same rack. I tried creating a mpich cluster but I got lost in the last step on how to compile dnsmasq for mpich3.

I have also tried haproxy but it wasn't working for me. Not sure, if I need a second IP for haproxy.

Any suggestions??

Many thanks in advance.

cheers

  • round robin?!

  • Why? What are you doing that you need to add additional capacity for a DNS forwarder? There could easily be a better solution. Try making another forwarder, and adding it to your three VPS's nameserver configurations. Shouldn't be a problem. I've personally never ran out of resources on a forwarder, I'm intrigued.
