Speed test from China
A customer bought a VPS from Softlayer HK and has told me that the speeds from inside China are worse than the speeds from London. Does anyone have a reasonable connection inside China and would be willing to run some speed tests for me?
Also does anyone know about Softlayer HK <-> China in general?

China Telecom: bad
China Unicom: acceptable
China Mobile: good
I'm using China Mobile(Tietong), the download speed could reach full bandwidth, but it increase slowly from 500KB/s to 1MB/s, not as good as VR.org HK.
There are three main ISPs in China: China Telecom, China Unicom, China Mobile. The interconnection among them is poor -- that's why BGP is preferred within China.
HK is not part of China in terms of network. Route could be HK -> US -> China
Money could solve the china latency or route issue
That's like for most issues here
China Unicom is Mainland China->Japan->HK

This is because CT, CU, not going to make any peering with other telco in hk or other asia countries. Those who need the traffic to china via asia, you must purchase the transit with them, else the traffic will be routed to europe or usa.
Which is the case for a lot of ISPs everywhere. Nothing China specific.
Do you need any test in Vietnam . We have America-Asia-Gateway cable which provides a very good speed. Around 20Mbps for home network
