How about doing something similar to what HN did every month?
Describe an idea/service/product that you would like to see and use. Or something you wanted to create but never had the time or money to make it real.
Your idea can also be a better realization of an existing product.

How about a easy web management system for all of your VPS's and dedicated servers? Just something that shows the specifications, and the ip and the host and the location and maybe an extra notes tab and maybe some other stuff...
A simple table should do that, no?
