Another n00b question here, I have a Xen box and I found some strange connections with iftop, I'm quite sure that these connections didn't belong to me. Also vnstat stats are weird too:

root@*:~# vnstat -i eth0

Database updated: Wed May 30 22:47:53 2012

eth0 since 05/11/12

rx: 639.39 GiB tx: 7.82 GiB total: 647.21 GiB

monthly
rx | tx | total | avg. rate
------------------------+-------------+-------------+---------------
May '12 639.39 GiB | 7.82 GiB | 647.21 GiB | 2.10 Mbit/s
------------------------+-------------+-------------+---------------
estimated 661.81 GiB | 8.09 GiB | 669.90 GiB |

daily
rx | tx | total | avg. rate
------------------------+-------------+-------------+---------------
yesterday 28.57 GiB | 18.00 MiB | 28.59 GiB | 2.78 Mbit/s
today 33.84 GiB | 96.91 MiB | 33.93 GiB | 3.47 Mbit/s
------------------------+-------------+-------------+---------------
estimated 35.65 GiB | 101 MiB | 35.74 GiB |

Actually I see < 30gb of bandwidth usage this month in solusvm.

Any ideas?

Solusvm bandwidth accounting is trash for xen.

  • Run tcpdump to see what kind of traffic it is

Some time ago this happened to me with my first xen. Connections that doesn't go in or out to my ip.
Is like arp poison or something o_O
    I don't have idea.
If someone know what is this, please tell us.

Sounds like ebtables isn't setup properly or at all.
