I think you can mount your system in rescue mode.
Pretty much.
This is why you have VNC access (via KVM) to the system. You can do whatever you need to via the console, such as boot into a rescue media and reset the root password for yourself.
Another option is to not forget it in the first place....
I would try and use this method, its the most painless.
