Hmmm... just noticed that Amazon's Route53 now allows for direct domain purchasing.
I got mines as well, however only valid for US

Even it say "We’re sorry. Google Domains may not be available in your country.", but at least you can play with its features like search, buy, checkout ... Not yet tried to pay for one

I got an invite, and registered, works fine. However didn't try to buy one.
I am in the EU.
Got an invite too, registered and found almost everything is $12. Namesilo is much cheaper. Plus one would think that google would atleast provide email as a courtesy if you buy a domain from them but NO , if you want email you have to pay for google apps which is $50/annum/user. Why would anyone use them if most registrars provide free email & the domain together at a lesser price
They do offer privacy protection and I would like to think that this is where they might excel, without a valid reason a giant like google might not so easily be pressurized to release info like some some small registrars.

I logged in to see if I could send invites but I didn't find any option for that. I think these invites can only be sought by applying for them directly at http://domains.google.com/ .

Soon, everything online-related will be owned by Google so better get in now and reserve your space.
I guess many people asked the same question for google apps when it was launched; and now many people are bidding to get grandfathered accounts.
I would not mind to have an invite, [email protected] if one comes available.
