There was only one instant we have raised the prices but that was very very past. I assure that , it wont happen.

Unless you are receiving more than 1gbps or higher DDOS attack (until it goes down), or you have not paid the renew invoice on time, or extreme case of TOS violation, there is no reason to pull the plug, am sure any review with pulling plug has some reason attached to it.

  • I get weird pings from Los Angeles, CA area. I usually get an avg. ping of 10 to 15 ms avg. from other providers. Charter is my home ISP. Pass.

What got me about this deal was they give you a /80 of IPv6 addresses (thats 281,474,976,710,656 IPv6 addresses). I couldn't find an easy way to assign all of the IPv6 addresses to my machine, so I wrote a PHP script that will add them. I uploaded it to a Gist. I tried setting the block to the /80 that I was assigned but it was taken a while (and its getting later) and I don't think I need all those IPv6 addresses, so instead I just set it to /125. If somebody does need to use all those IPv6 addresses and gets them assigned (with or without my script), please let me know. I will add a benchmark from my server tomorrow.

    Thanked by 1lukesUbuntu
  • For some reason, one of my tickets was removed/disappeared into the void. However, I do have the machine and it is performing okay so far. I'll run some network tests and check the system once everything is moved over from my OVH i3.

That's not quite correct. In IPv6 world, a /64 is treated as a single entity, i.e. a family network, a corporation network, or a single server (either has many VPS on it, or not).

The addresses inside a /64 are more like a "port" in the v4 world. That is to say, if someone else are spamming and got the v6 address blacklisted, your /80 will also be included.

A "standard" rule is to assign a /56 or /48 to an ISP, and then /64 for each client.

There's not many things to do with the number of addresses.

  • Read the TOS and AUP and decide to keep away.

  • dragon, i doubt someone will remove a ticket, we close tickets when something gets resolved. if you have a email copy of ticket which vanished in our system as per you, i can surely look into it.

  • :- ) not sure what made you dizzy in ( AUS TOP)

  • yes in ipv6 world /64 is just a single entity by design when doing like a auto configuration , our Fremont location he.net gave us a /48 which we split to /64's and gave one each per server, technically if i can subnet a supernet like a /64 there is no reason for holding that many IP , ( especially when you can never run out of them )

So, how many IPv6 addresses do I have then? 18,446,744,073,709,551,616?

Here's my benchmark (there seems to be a problem with the Atlanta speed test so its not in there):

    CPU model : Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 CPU 530 @ 2.93GHz

    Number of cores : 4

    CPU frequency : 1200.000 MHz

Total amount of ram : 7863 MB

Total amount of swap : 3999 MB

    System uptime : 13:06,

    Download speed from CacheFly: 11.3MB/s

Download speed from Softlayer, Dallas, TX: 10.9MB/s

Download speed from Linode, Tokyo, JP: 4.30MB/s

Download speed from i3d.net, Rotterdam, NL: 4.32MB/s

Download speed from Leaseweb, Haarlem, NL: 5.59MB/s

Download speed from Softlayer, Singapore: 3.75MB/s

Download speed from Softlayer, Seattle, WA: 11.0MB/s

Download speed from Softlayer, San Jose, CA: 11.2MB/s

Download speed from Softlayer, Washington, DC: 5.92MB/s

    I/O speed : 90.4 MB/s

I think it should also be noted that the IPMI is just for controlling the server and powering on/off the server remotely, and you can't mount an ISO to perform a reinstall without contacting Slicebox first (and I believe you can only do it once per month)

  • bios date is wrong, cant correct it via ipmi because you dont allowed to :), install ntp and configure it or you will experience difficulties in wget'ing https links due to wrong system clock

  • we will add this to the checklist , thanks for notifying.

Torrenting, P2P, and price will be paid if get DDoS'd.

(Actually anyone can drive your clients away from you by randomly issuing DDoS attack on your IP range)

  • Please let me know who allows illegal torrents p2p on US servers.
I need to keep safe other clients on Switch , so we request the clients to move servers or domains who attract dos attack, there are certain companies who specifically deal with dos attacks mitigation etc..

Please let me know where you wrote the word "illegal". Let's say, if I spread a video I recorded by my mobile phone, is it considered "illegal"? Your AUP clearly prohibit any torrenting activities and that's why I decided to keep away.

Also please note that if you don't use "Quote" button or "@" someone when replying, no one will receive notification or come back to read your reply.

  • Can i install proxmox and use windows trial?

  • we can actually pre install proxmox for you. for VPS on top of server whatever you install it is your sole responsibility for software or licenses or any problems, we support for the dedicated server only

I really wanted one. but the ping time is not good for me.

    `
Pinging 107.181.160.168 with 32 bytes of data:
    Reply from 107.181.160.168: bytes=32 time=352ms TTL=49
    Reply from 107.181.160.168: bytes=32 time=333ms TTL=49
    Reply from 107.181.160.168: bytes=32 time=337ms TTL=49
    Reply from 107.181.160.168: bytes=32 time=334ms TTL=49

    Ping statistics for 107.181.160.168:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 333ms, Maximum = 352ms, Average = 339ms
    `

  • I will try to rectify this, but from where are you pinging this , your source ip or router ip

  • Ordered one an hour ago, let's hope it'll be setup in a few hours :)

  • Hi, it will be setup tonight , we have delivered some which were placed last night. But some will be delayed for today (Sunday). worst case is 24hrs

at this point we are not processing hardware upgrades. however for sure by next week .

  • We have close to 8 servers in Los Angeles with 2x500gb drives for software raid in CentoOS, you can request for this in order notes for no extra fee. All the orders have been delivered til date.

We now have IP-V6 enabled on Vegas network and are issuing /64 block per server.
