Complete VPS backup

kovacsakkovacsak Member

Is there any way to completely backup a whole VPS?

  • If it's not OpenVZ/Virtuozzo, you can back it up and restore it fully by R1Soft/Idera.

If this is a one time thing, you can use CloneZilla.

Ask your provider kindly to provide a vzdump?

  • Where do you want to backup? On the same HDD or on a remote location?

  • On OpenVZ you can rsync everything to another container and it will reboot fine, although you have to miss out some stuff like /proc afaik.
