anyone try a ovh soyoustart SSD model recently? is it ECC or not?

Trying to hunt down anyone who has bought an ovh soyoustart SSD lately.

They refuse to guarantee that it will have ECC
We got lucky with some HDD models that actually came with samsung ECC but one did not, so it is potluck.

Pretty sure it has to do when you bought it and what batch they built it in.

Since they don't do refunds, it is expensive to find out the hard way.

Thanks for any feedback!

They guarantee the spec advertised which does not include ECC, so it is simply pot luck, nothing more.

  • All servers i have with SSD are with non-ECC RAM.

    Many thanks for the feedback.
Did you buy them before or after they split off the SSD models?
ie. is it a SSD-1/2/3 or it is one of the old SYS models with SSD ?

They recently raised the prices on the SSD so I was hoping it was to justify ECC memory perhaps. ie. the SSD-2 used to be $56 and it is now $63

    Got ECC with a SYS-IP-4 I orderd:

    [root@node ~]# dmidecode --type memory

before. I don't see any price differense. You misunderstand something. Or maybe it's because fluctuations in currency relations.

    Before:

    SYS-E32-4 Intel Xeon E3-1245v2 4 c / 8 t 3.4 GHz+ 32 Go 2x 120 Go SSD Hard 200 Mbps 1 Gbps
    50.00€ HT
    (SOIT 60.00€ TTC)

    Now:

    SSD-3 Intel Xeon E3-1245v2 4 c / 8 t 3.4 GHz+ 32 Go 2x 120 Go SSD Hard 250Mbps Inclus
    50.00€ HT
    (SOIT 60.00€ TTC)

    Proof: http://web.archive.org/web/20140620232001/http://www.soyoustart.com/ie/SSD-servers.xml

Memory is clearly non-ECC and i guess they never put ECC ram on SSD; you should read their website - if they said nothing about ECC then it will be non-ECC:

      Physical Memory Array
        Location: System Board Or Motherboard
        Use: System Memory
        Error Correction Type: None
        Maximum Capacity: 32 GB
        Error Information Handle: 0x005F
        Number Of Devices: 4

Yeah we got ECC on all the SYS-32-1 we ordered which does not list/guarantee ECC

It is potluck when they were built. Which is why I am hoping to stumble across someone who got a SSD model with ECC to prove it happens and then maybe someone from the current batch.

That high end IP series is nice, we don't get anything above IP-4 in the states @ BHS
