Is it possible to do a cloned image of a kimsufi 500gb ubuntu 12.04 server and 'restore' it to a soyoustart 2x2tb Raid-1 server? Has anyone done anything like this?

Thanks folks.

  • 500 mb or gb? i am pretty sure you will need a third party script to do this. also you will have to keep in mind you cant completely clone 2 servers because the os contains drivers specific for the hardwares, which in this case is changing

Not sure about the whole cloning an image dedi > dedi when they are both to be done remotely (Without KVM/IPMI access) but whats wrong with just a re-install of programs then rsync all configs/files?

EDIT - Someone more clued in on the KS rescue mode may be able to chime in.
