Replacing Dedi

Hello all, I run a pretty popular minecraft server, and am currently hosting it on a mac mini in a datacenter. I want to move out so I'm looking for a new dedicated.

My mac mini has the following specs, and I'm looking for something similar or more powerful.

QC i7
16GB Ram
2x1tb hard drives (raid 1)
1Gbps Port

EDIT: Current location is Milwaukee, new location can be anywhere in the USA really.
I'm looking to spend less than $75. Lower the better really.
Any offers please let me know.

Thanks!

  • Curious as to budget and location?

  • @Catalystium, added that sorry!

  • Delimiter can do you a Dual L5520, 24GB, we could put an SSD on there. Would that work?

  • Milwaukee's got the economy to support a datacenter? Color me surprised.

Why is that? I've been there - good economy as far as I remember.

There's actually quite a few datacenters here in Milwaukee. Cogent and a couple of other companies are at 324 E Wisconsin Ave, which is in downtown Milwaukee. There's a few in the suburbs too. There's even a low end VPS provider with servers here - I think they're in Oak Creek, actually, but that's right next to Milwaukee. I forget their name though, but I remember they offer OpenVZ for like $5 a month.

Yeah, it's got a good economy, but it doesn't feel like a techie town... Not nearly like Minamonee or Eagan.

@concerto49 Can I start the next Dropbox on your cheapest server?
In RAID10 that's 1PB of storage :) It just needs a bit more bandwidth.

Lol, I put GB instead of TB, I guess there is some balance in the universe, someone else making the opposite mistake :P

Sorry for the formatting, but I'm having trouble getting this to display properly.

We're low on stock on both systems at the moment but we have quite a few more in route from our vendors. If the inventory shows sold out, please feel free to PM me or open a sales ticket and I can let you know if we have a spare one that I can free up for you.
