Braintree is an Aus only handler, works great for my mates down under.
Stereotypical dribble aside; try it out. As well, if you're with CommonWealth or BankWest you can get a merchant PoS or a proper Virtual Terminal through them without any issues.

PayPal's new system setup is nice, and I believe 2checkout works for SouthAfrica. Those would both be my votes...most credibility in a potential clients eyes.
I have them integrated in a few of my sites, customer support is very fast, same as processing
