Kill the server and start it again, easy
@joodle by typing quit?
No, kill the server process
@joodle what should i type?
Via SSH, type "ps ax" without the quotes of course.. Then find the process ID and type "kill ID"
@joodle when i type ps ax it show this Unknown command "ps"
What OS are you using for your VPS?
He needs to use steamcmd to update it if he's running it on a vps.
When you're in the screen session, where it says a load of rubbish like "VAC has started"
Press ctrl + C to end it, then press up on your arrows to get the command to start it again and press enter.
Like Void_Whisperer said, you need to update via SteamCMD.
Restarting won't do anything (despite the console saying so).
ps -A| grep steam
or
ps -A | grep counter
kill -9 process number
@viCommunications debian 7 32
@Void_Whisperer i did run update from steamcmd. when i start up my server it keeping showing that message.
@hostnoob when you join the server it kick you out because it running old update.
Hum, perhaps you should backup your maps and the server.cfg to make a clean install again.
@shrubbles yes i was thinking about reinstall
I might be able to help you, shoot me a PM.
Casper253 type quit in your server. If it fails to update you need follow this guide: https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/SteamCMD
Mun
nonono, on your server it should be running in screen. you go into the screen session (screen -r) and then press ctrl+c to stop it, then you need to start it again (~/.srcds_run, etc.. or whatever it is)
@Mun i type quit before i run the update, when i try start the server it show the message i think 1 of the mod i install cost it so i try to reinstall the server see if that work
@george alright i hit you up
@hostnoob when i type screen -r i show this
There are several suitable screens on:
10651.counterstrike (04/26/2014 10:00:57 AM) (Detached)
26398.pts-0.nationserver (01/18/2014 08:20:50 AM) (Detached)
31804.CounterStrike (12/29/2013 11:19:31 PM) (Detached)
31678.CounterStrike (12/29/2013 11:04:58 PM) (Detached)
11061.CounterStrike (12/28/2013 07:17:30 AM) (Detached)
Type "screen [-d] -r [pid.]tty.host" to resume one of them.
Please, for the love of everything, get a managed VM, or buy a prepackaged game server from a GSP.
Close all the extra screens and work in one, run the steamcmd update and then reboot your VM and re-launch.
If you are unsure about setting up the CSS server I would also advise getting a sysadmin to manage the box.
@0xdragon for manage vps it cost over $10 and more time sending support ticket. buying from Gsp cost $0.50-$1.50 per slots. for 8 slots server cost over $4 per month with a vps you spend $5-$10 yearly with 12 slots or more.
@wych what should i type to clear it
Am I the only one that noticed that he's also offering a VPS service, and doesn't know how to kill processes?
This is exactly why you research before buying.
He's a reseller by the looks of it, trying to make money quick without actually doing any real work.
@casper253 If you're struggling to kill the screen sessions, there is an easier GUI method.
Go to the control panel for your VPS and click reinstall and then when it's just about to start the reinstallation, scroll down to the bottom of the page and back up again very quickly 3 times.
This is a special SolusVM trick that will close all processes for you
Harsh.
@Saiku @OkieDoke i close all the processes and run the update and startup the server it still show the massage so im guessing i should reinstall my os.
Killall screen
try running app_update [app#forcs] validate
@Void_Whisperer i try that already but thank you
