Update: Support staff told me (< 5 minutes after I e-mailed them) that they had emergency reboots at their SE data center.
I witnessed it in IRC as many people were disconnected, so you weren't the only one, someone did explain what happened and EDIS's explaination on IRC but I wasn't really paying attention.. ;P
