r/usenet Black Friday Megathread is up – what deals are you grabbing this year?

Mike01Mike01 Member

Hey everyone,

For those of you running home labs or self-hosted media setups who still use Usenet alongside torrents/seedboxes, the annual Black Friday megathread just went live over on Reddit:

https://www.reddit.com/r/usenet/comments/1xgqi2s/black_friday_2026_usenet_deals_megathread/

It rounds up the ongoing deals for providers (unlimited backbones, blocks) and indexers.

    Any recommendation from those providers?

Usually depends on location, use, and few other things. But I would go with the community recommendation, which is Newshosting for US and Eweka for Europe - and with both you get a bundle right now for Black Friday with extra provider + vpn

I have never understood Usenet and I don't think I ever will, especially not paying for access.

If you go through the hassle of getting a Usenet provider and an "indexer" (basically invite-only or paid pirate sites) then you get extremely fast and extremely easy to use downloads that you don't need to seed, or deal with file locker sites with malware ads.

I used exclusively public trackers (tpb, kickass, rarbg, etc.) for a long time so I didn't need to seed, and then I got into a free private tracker that I have been using since rarbg's demise.

I've never really found seeding bothersome and I built up some "upload credit" so I don't really need to seed anymore. Never paid a cent.

    Just my experience.
