You read/ agreed with T&C when you bought the service... right?

Did you ticket to check with support if their advertised ip ranges meet your requirements?

Its unfortunate you are in this situation. Time to learn and move on.

Do not tarnish the provider when they have provided a working service. Whether that suits your usecase is the due diligence the customer would need to do with their team and not other way around.

Frankly I understand you will feel cheated. But see it from lens of the provider for once.

    @gangan

I mean, sure but they could of offered available IP's if they are allowing the replacement for this purpose if it's same subnet and no option he didn't have to pay the $2 the default IP is whatever, not providers fault support handling it surely is problem tho

Update: Senior Technician "Arthur" just replied to my ticket with their "final decision":

"Per our Terms of Service, all promotional plans and IP replacement fees are strictly non-refundable (including to account credit). Furthermore, as a datacenter hosting provider, our responsibility is to ensure hardware and global network connectivity. We do not guarantee access to specific third-party websites or services (such as Google, Netflix, etc.)... IP replacements are assigned randomly from the datacenter pool without any guarantee of third-party accessibility, and we do not provide manual IP selection. Therefore, we are unable to fulfill your request for a refund or manual IP assignment. This decision is final."

Comparing basic connectivity to Google (essential for basic search, package mirrors, APIs, and daily work) with streaming Netflix is ridiculous.

Even worse, charging customers $2 for an IP replacement that randomly pulls another broken IP from the exact same tainted subnet—and refusing to even refund that $2 fee or manually assign a working subnet—turns the IP replacement feature into a complete lottery scam.

@NDTN Is this really how GreenCloud treats customers during your 13th Birthday Sale? Keeping the $2 fee after delivering an identically broken IP from the same subnet?

    Stop spamming this threat.

    this is called "entitlement".
OP is simply ignoring my comment here as realistically, OP knows they want to stir popcorn and nothing more.

Kudos to the provider's team to handle it professionally

    They are citing the ToS.

or provide IP options before purchase, I dunno just my 2 cents aint hating have many servers with GC.

this is on Buyer to confirm with the service provider whether their usecase will be supported or not. Plus all info is clearly listed in ToS.

Some providers typically go ahead and make things extra explicit, and still, such scenarios do happen. There is no making peace with a customer; sometimes, including all of us.

  • I hope the "no black friday sale this year" only refers to the sale specials and doesn't also refer to the megathread and giveaway prizes - it will feel strange without GreenCloud's dependable participation in those!

Thanks for 13 great years, may things only keep getting even better!
